Producer Rick McCallum — who was instrumental in the resurrection of the Star Wars franchise, from the “Special Edition” re-releases of the first trilogy to the prequel trilogy Star Wars films — is leaving Lucasfilm to pursue producing independent films. The announcement, made on StarWars.com, comes a month after the bombshell news that Disney is purchasing Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion, with veteran Hollywood producer Kathleen Kennedy taking the helm of the Star Wars franchise as executive producer of a planned sequel trilogy.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/02/rick-mccallum--lucasfilm-_n_2228665.html?utm_hp_ref=entertainment I guess he couldn't handle being in the House of Mouse A good-bye song

Wait, he was instrumental in the creation of the prequels? Maybe there is hope for the Disney-Era then.

Good I guess?
he was a producer, not a writer or director. he made sure that everyone was paid and working together properly.

I'm assuming it's some sort of disassociation effect where you guys think it was alright just because it wasn't AS atrocious as 2.

WHAT IS IT WITH RICKS? [editline]3rd December 2012[/editline]
i thought it was pretty good actually. even compared to the original trilogy its still decent.
Naw man. You are still in denial. It's ok to come out.
1 and 2 were shit, 3 was watchable, none of them should have been made.
good rid-dense
I liked 3 a lot, was a pretty fun movie and it was decently made. Only thing I liked about 2 was how the clones were just like "lol fuck off jedi i got this" and 1 was pretty bad.
1 wasn't that bad it was just pointless. its basically backstory: the movie
Maul's lightsaber & the podracing was pretty cool though.
Robert Pattinson as Han Solo... Darth Vader coming back from the fucking ashes... Now this... Hey, Disney, I don't think this will be very lucrative, how about a refund? :v:

Seriously the only thing that cloaks how really fucking bad the new trilogy is is the amount of money Lucas chucked at it to cover up his atrocious direction and writing with special effects and visuals. I thought 3 was okay too when I first saw it, upon watching it again it dawned on me it was really actually pretty fuckin bad and I only found it enjoyable because AoTC was so fucking horrible. Phantom Menace saving grace in hindsight was it was the last time we saw Lucas display any sense of restraint, before he fell into the BIGGERER AND BETTERER syndrome to make up for his lack of craft and/or talent as a filmmaker and writer. [editline]3rd December 2012[/editline] I actually liked Phantom Menace for the simple fact it was the last time the lightsaber fight choreography actually looked like a sword fight, not madi gras dancing and gymnastics like it ended up becoming in the sequels. The rest of the film was shit granted.
That entire scene was fucking retarded.
That entire movie was fucking retarded.
Fixed for ya.
Fuck this guy. He was around sucking George's balls not saying a negative thing while he messed up the prequels, the special editions and overall just franchising. I'm glad he's out.
if you think any of the prequels are good you have a serious condition and need to go to a hospital immediately please i beg you we're all worried
Wait, he was instrumental in the creation of the prequels? Maybe there is hope for the Disney-Era then.
The prequels weren't a bad idea, it was just executed horribly.
The prequels weren't a bad idea.
no, that's not true at all. they were a story that didn't need to be told.
no, that's not true at all. they were a story that didn't need to be told.
They didn't need to be, but Lucas had planned from the time he'd worked on the original trilogy to do either prequels ("The Tragedy of Darth Vader") or sequels (another trilogy series) eventually. More stories in the Star Wars universe were going to be told one way or the other.
I liked the Ep 1 lightsaber duel. And maybe the pod racing a little.
The Prequels also displayed how the Jedi's were fucking idiots and got killed off because they didn't know how to leave behind their former lives. You don't dress like a fucking jedi when you're on the run from a galatic empire.
EP1, 2 and 3 were good. Screw you all. The "dancing" in Phantom Menace was done good and I always watched them like a charming fight. I did understand it looks like every single move is planned, but it still looked great. What kind of person you need to be to watch a star wars movie and seek flaws in it?
EP1, 2 and 3 were good. Screw you all.
backing this guy but only because I watched 1, 2, 3 as a little kid
What kind of person you need to be to watch a star wars movie and seek flaws in it?
No one is seeking them out, they make themselves just so painfully obvious.
i never said that, all i said was that the phantom menace was the better one out of the prequel shitfest
that goes for anyone in the thread!
