thing that pisses me off about guitar hero is i am pretty experienced at real guitar and bass at my current point in life, yet if i were to try to play guitar hero everything confuses me and i look like i have some sort of neurological disorder when using the game instrument
like wtf man is this normal

I'm good at the guitar in GH/RB but my god when I play the drums I feel like applying for the special olympics. I just cannot get my hands and feet to work together when playing them

It's okay, when Paul McCartney tried to play his own songs in Beatles Rockband, some kids kicked his fucking ass at it.
Its just a completely different type of memorization, I think its common sense that the skills wouldn't transfer. I think kids only really think they have musical skill when doing well at guitar hero :v:
I love these games so much. I got the original Guitar Hero back in the day, and I enjoyed it so much that after I finally went through the playlist on expert mode, I went out and got a real guitar. Almost 10 years later and I still play it to this day, it really opened up a whole new part of my life.

You should try a game called Rocksmith 2014, it's like Guitar Hero but with real guitars
Here's an example of Dream On:
And didn't Rockband 3 employ a similar mode where you could legitimately play the game while playing guitar?

can confirm rocksmith is pretty awesome, got a good variety of songs for different tastes
And didn't Rockband 3 employ a similar mode where you could legitimately play the game while playing guitar?
It had a special guitar peripheral that had 200+ individual buttons on it and some mock strings. I think it looks every bit as confusing as Guitar Hero/Rockband mixed with the severe complexity of real guitar.
Man, I completely forgot about guitar hero. I think I still have a guitar somewhere...
Man, I completely forgot about guitar hero. I think I still have a guitar somewhere...
if you "completely forgot" about "guitar hero" then why would you think that you have "a" guitar?
don't call me "man" either; you're like the second person this week who isn't being clear about what you mean.
i mean, do you even know how/where you would look for something in the "somewhere"-location?
be more spacific..."man".
im out

i think he was tryin a joke that fell flat
I thought it was funny at least, he's just imitating those irrationally hostile people you come across every once
or he's fuckin drunk

it did, but hardly anyone ended up really using it. the way it was designed was kinda confusing and annoying, and you had to have a new peripheral for it. basically if you wanted to play real guitar there was no real reason not to just play rocksmith instead imo
RB3 also did let you use an adapter to plug in your own MIDI keyboard or electronic drum set and play the game with that, which is rad as hell

I'm a pretty experienced guitar player, if I hear something I can usually play it. Rocksmith is a really cool and fun game but one thing that really annoyed me when I was playing is that you can only play in the position they intend, otherwise you won't hit the notes in the game. In other words, even though what I'm playing is theoretically exactly the same and sounds the same as the song, I will fail at the game.
That said, for someone who is a beginner or who just wants to have some fun playing it's a really great game.

Rocksmith works based on sound. 10 on D will register just the same as an open E.

That game is pretty much how I learned how to play guitar. :v: Was my only teacher. But now I use Yousician a lot more instead.
Yousician
Didn't know what this was, looked it up. I love you.

I know it does but it didn't register as the same for me. Then again there was also a short delay when I played, maybe my friend just have a funky cable or something. Now I want to try it again :v:
I guess we're posting rhythm game footage now.
Here's the number one beatmania IIDX player from Japan.

I like to consider myself pretty decent at the Rock Band drums, but this makes me jealous.
There's two things that kill me on RB drums: trills / rolls, and the kick being off the beat.
The beginning of that song is god-damn brutal. I could probably do the solo part, but that's really about it in this song.
Just wish he had played the song on Expert mode, with the cymbals. In my opinion, it adds a whole new level of experience - I don't even play with the cymbals off anymore. :v:

he did that, a day after uploading the non-pro drums FC.

i could go on for quite a while listing all of the amazing shit this guy's pulled off in Rock Band

his technique is shit tho he's as tense as a rock

If it's one of the console versions the delay may have been from using hdmi, it doesn't like that. The RCA connectors are your best bet at removing the latency. Or if it's the PC version, make sure Audio Exclusivity is enabled.

That's John Bonham levels of epic right there.
Man, I really want to get a good drum kit for Rock Band now. I use The Beatles Rock band kit currently, but I really hate the kick pedal. I played an Ion with a drum pedal at a con, and it was sooooo much easier to use the kick drum.
