PETA loves a controversy. So when Baltimore City Council Member William 'Pete' Welch suggested selling ad space on fire trucks to balance the city's budget, the animal rights group jumped at the opportunity.
“Our … advertisement featuring a sexy woman showing off her vegan physique will drive Baltimore residents to PETA’s heart-healthy vegan recipes that will keep them firing on all cylinders,” PETA wrote in a letter to Welch.
The ads would feature a buxom blonde sporting a red bikini next to the caption, "Vegans Are Hot! Free Smokin'-Hot Recipes: PETA.org."
With a $48 million budget shortfall, Welch says the plan would help bring down the deficit and keep three fire companies from having to close, CBS Baltimore reports.
This isn't the first time PETA has suggested controversial ads. Last year the organization proposed putting lettuce bikini ads on an incinerator.

Yet again Baltimore (where I live) makes headlines for its silly antics. This is bullshit. Advertising on emergency vehicles?
Here comes the vegan hate train.
TOOT TOOT

No one's has a problem with vegans. It's PETA that's the problem, not veganism.
I really don't like the sound of advertisements on fire trucks in general, might as well slap a Dunking Donuts Ad on the side of police cars.
Reminds me of idiocracy where advertisements were everywhere, even bed sheets.
Reminds me of the Futurama episode with Lightspeed brand briefs ads in Fry's dreams.
I don't really see the problem except that it's on public services vehicles, so the types of ads would need to be fairly neutral. (So obviously PETA would be out of the question).
I don't see a problem either..except that PETA and its members are FUCKING RETARDED and shed bad light on vegans...

more like here comes the terrorist hate train.
PETA is an organization with ties to radical domestic terrorism groups. Why any local government would do business with them is beyond me.

Dude it's a fucking emergency vehicle. Keep the ads off of it.
Our … advertisement featuring a sexy woman showing off her vegan physique will drive Baltimore residents to PETA’s heart-healthy vegan recipes that will keep them firing on all cylinders,”
Yeah, keep on dreaming.
Enough of these skinny bitches. Gimme women with a bit more meat on them, fuck.
also lol peta using emergency vehicles to peddle their crap. Whats next, Ambulances with an ad displaying the "NEXT BIG HIT ON FOX" ?
If the money that they are paying to put the advert on there goes towards helping to save people's lives then why not? Anyone but PETA though.
“Our … advertisement featuring a sexy woman showing off her vegan physique will drive Baltimore residents to PETA’s heart-healthy vegan recipes that will keep them firing on all cylinders,”
Seriously?
Its like giving people the choice of eating a juicy steak or eating a bucket of leaves.
Both can be healthy or unhealthy. Go away Peta, and take your shit with you.
Also, its forbidden to have advertising on emergency vehicles as they need to be well marked as such.
No one's has a problem with vegans. It's PETA that's the problem, not veganism.
...no, fuck veganism too.
if you're concerned about animal cruelty, buy free range and organic. Don't adopt a ludicrous diet and then act like that makes you a good person.

Yeah, fuck choices.
Yeah, fuck choices.
You're allowed to judge people by their choices.
In fact, it's really the only medium by which you can judge people.
woman showing off her vegan physique
Why would you promote anorexia and anemia on a fire truck
PETA: Baltimore Orioles, number one!
“Our … advertisement featuring a sexy woman showing off her vegan physique will drive Baltimore residents to PETA’s heart-healthy vegan recipes that will keep them firing on all cylinders,”
A big, juicy, medium-rare sirloin keeps me firing on all cylinders. Fuck off PETA.

how about their actions
you're dumb
And PETA is no longer an animal rights group. It's a vegan group.
the important question is why would we need advertising on a public service vehicle? If the fire department needs money that badly, why the fuck isn't the government giving them the money they need?

You choose to act upon something. so technically an action is a choice.
how about their actions

what world are you from where actions and choices are separate things?

What about appearance?
What about appearance?
Ever heard the phrase don't judge a book by it's cover?
It is unsurprisingly true, for both this ad and this game cover.

One is portrayed as being a way to become a super model and the other looks downright disturbing.
