Del Toro saw the 2003 film with his daughters; when asked about his involvement in the new project, he said, "the thing I want to do is remake it." Elaborating, he commented, "The movie I see in my head of 'Haunted Mansion' is not, I believe, what everyone is imagining it to be. It's not just a regular world with a haunted mansion plopped in the middle. I really am thinking of a movie that has a heightened reality." Del Toro said that Hatbox Ghost would be the main haunting and added, "We are not making it a comedy. We are making it scary and fun at the same time, but the scary will be scary." It is to be filmed in live-action 3D. It was later announced by del Toro that he is aiming for a PG-13 rating for the film.
how fucking dare you accuse eddie murphy of making shitty movies
it was a shitty movie
it was a shitty movie
It wasn't THAT bad
It was damn hilarious
That is definitely an awesome poster/promotional image. I want it.
That is definitely an awesome poster/promotional image. I want it.
They only handed 999 of them at Comic Con, last year
I really hope Disney does not mess things up, It looks amazing.
I bet the twist is that the main character ends up on the It's a Small World ride...forever! Bwahahaha!
I've always had total trust in him and generally everything he's involved in. Can't wait to see what he comes up with.
Should be interesting to see the infamous Hatbox Ghost on the big screen.
It would have been better without his little bitch of a son.
This movie should be fucking awesome when it comes out next year
My hopes aren't too high for this after 'Don't be afraid of the dark' was in my opinion a total let down.
If you look at the stories of the Mansion, there's really nothing to worry about. They have so much to go off of http://www.doombuggies.com/home.htm Just check out Doombuggies and they have some many of the stories that the Imagineers went through for the Mansion.
I'm hoping the movie can come out in 2012, if not the wait will kill me
Damn, Del Toro is quickly becoming a director we should follow! If he gets the creative freedom he deserves, and gives it his magic touch, it can't go wrong.

I loved all the detail and back story so much. Not that I dislike it now, but I'm not weirdly obsessed with it like I was years ago.
I like the Eddie Murphy one, sans the retarded twist. However I have no doubt I'll like this one more.
I've got 999 good movies but The Haunted Mansion (2003) ain't one.
