CHESTER - A helicopter is circling over a village of nervous residents after the robbery of the KeyBank on Brookside Avenue led to a massive search for a suspect shortly after 1 p.m. According to police, a black male entered the bank and displayed something that might have been a weapon, and then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. More than a dozen police officers, a few of them heavily armed, are patrolling on foot and in cars, and knocking on doors on Main Street and in nearby residential neighborhoods, as anxious neighbors look on. “Maybe he took a shortcut through the woods behind the bank. I don't know, but they've got serious guns out there,” said a woman working at the Deli Anamex Restaurant across from the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street, where police have gathered. Patrol cars are searching streets off of Academy Avenue, Brookside Avenue and Main Street looking for the suspect. Officers from the Orange County Sheriff's Department, the State Police and the Town of Chester, Village of Chester, Village of Monroe and Blooming Grove police departments are involved in the search. The streets remain open to traffic. I was wondering what it was doing. One of my 'friends' said there was a bank robbery, but he isn't the most trustworthy guy, so I dismissed it as BS. Turns out he wasn't lying. I hope they catch the guy. :ohdear: Surveillance Photo. Very helpful.
don't they have security measures on the cash to prevent this
It's kind of like something out of a movie. Even more so if somebody robbed a train...that would be old-school...
