Tina Poole was traveling to work on Skytrain last Monday morning when the hand went missing somewhere between Lake City Way station and Main Street Station. She transferred trains at Broadway-Commercial. Poole says didn’t notice that her hand was missing until she got to work and took off her jacket. She’s been in touch with the Transit Police and Translink but so far the hand hasn’t surfaced. Poole has been wearing a prosthetic hand her whole life. The hand is custom designed and fitted to her prosthetic arm. It’s described as Caucasian in colour, with a silver shaft and coil. Poole already has a new hand on order from her prosthetist. Anyone who has found the hand or has more information is asked to call Translink. That was waaaaaay different to what I expected.
That title makes you believe like the woman lost a real hand... >.>
Can't decide whether it's funny because it's completely not what I was expecting, or heart because I feel bad that she lost a custom prosthetic.
Woah I came in here expecting something much, much worse.
Woah I came in here expecting something much, much worse.
I'm pretty sure we all did.
I'm pretty sure we all did.
When I read the thread title I said to myself in my head, "... damn it, where did I leave my hand again?" and pictured a woman walking around missing her hand. I'm legitimately surprised that I basically got just that by coming in here.
I can't help but to think of the scene in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy where Arthur tells Marvin to give him a hand. Not sure why.
I would just replace it with a hook [editline]15th December 2012[/editline] yar
Maybe when the train returns the passengers can give her a hand.
If I ever needed a prosthetic hand, I would have it custom made to resemble the one from The Terminator.
That title makes you believe like the woman lost a real hand... >.>
Well she did lose her real hand.. ..Just not on the Vancouver Skytrain :v: [IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/IMG]
I was wondering about the title, because if my memory serves me right, you can't open the windows of the Skytrain.
So I saw that this thread got 45 funnies and thought that facepunch was just being edgy again. Luckily it wasn't her real hand although of course she lost her real hand at some point which sucks. I think I would replace my hand with a sword [t]http://media.animevice.com/uploads/2/22914/387313-protoman2.jpg[/t]
Soon, sensationalist headlines will consist of nothing but smurfy-grade titles
"Excuse me miss, are you looking for something? Let me give you a hand."
I like to imagine that a prosthetic arm could be used as a pretty powerful weapon. Vancouver's not a dangerous place though, so she'll be fine even though she's a little 'armless.
I was wondering about the title, because if my memory serves me right, you can't open the windows of the Skytrain.
The tops can be popped open for fresh air but it's well known that the doors sometimes don't detect something the thickness of a purse or bag stuck in the doors when they close and there are multiple instances of people being dragged off the platforms either because they are still wearing their purse/bag or because they refuse to let go of it.
If I ever needed a prosthetic hand, I would have it custom made to resemble the one from The Terminator.
I don't understand those people whom get prosthetic hands that try to imitate the looks of real hands as those are uncanny as all hell.

was expecting a card game pun
