Conway: 'Of course I don’t have any evidence' of surveillance claims

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway on Monday denied that her recent comments about surveillance were a suggestion that Trump Tower may have been monitored in "any number of ways."
“I wasn’t making a suggestion about Trump Tower. Those are two separate things,” Conway told ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
“But that’s what you were asked about,” ABC News host George Stephanopoulos said.
And I answered him about surveilling generally,” Conway responded.
“I have no evidence, but that’s why there’s an investigation in Congress. That’s particularly what investigations are for,” Conway added.
When pressed later in the interview, Conway said, “No, of course I don’t have any evidence of those allegations and that answer has nothing to do with what the president said last week."

Feels before reals.
Oh great, now they are normalizing accusations with complete lack of evidence. Nothing morally wrong there.

if it hasn't been repeated enough, this is McCarthyism
So uh,
Libel suit when?
It's all well and good that these people are literally self-incriminating but it does fuck all if you don't act on it
Then why make the claim?
Then why make the claim?
Because they feel it is true, ergo it is!
Welcome to the post-factual era, you may leave your brain by the door, you won't be needing it any more.
i think if you believe that the next potential leader of the strongest country on the planet has ties to its historical enemy and you aren't performing some sort of surveillance on them then you'd be making a mistake.
Well, basically admitting what every politician does, answering specific questions with generic, unrelated things.
fucking hell the investigation is because of your asshole boss not the other way around
There've been some serious claims levied against Obama since he left office...
Wiretapping would be a federal crime, and if there's truth to that claim that he's running a shadow government, well that would be downright treasonous wouldn't it?
Where's the evidence, Dahnald?
"What, you mean I need evidence? Don't be ridiculous."
"What, you mean I need evidence? Don't be ridiculous."
Republicans haven't needed facts or evidence ever since they made "fact-checking" a dirty word.
im glad she admits she's an idiot
Does this mean Trump lied?
Does this mean Trump lied?
Of course he fuckin lied, what's new? The issue is how much his stupid base is eating it up.

*accused of having ties to Russia during campaign, an investigation starts*
"Where's your evidence?!"
*accuses Obama of ordering wiretap of Trump Tower*
"We don't have any evidence, that's why there's an investigation!"
:downs:

Couldn't have said it better.
"Trump was spied on by Obama"
"Do you have proof?"
"Of course not, which just makes my case stronger"

Homeopathic facts. This talking point was rubbed up against facts and then diluted to 1 in 100 million parts -- that means it's the absolute truth, folks.
Is this what making America great looks like? McCarthyism and being in bed with Putin?

Too bad all the Trump supporters are too blind to see the errors that Trump makes; they just play it off like "Yeah, he's just saying what's reasonable and doing what he can to make this country powerful and rich"
One day they will realize this guy is a con-man who only wants to be president to further his personal business and his buddies, then maybe they'll feel real dumb.

there is a difference between journalistic reporting from anonymous sources, and listening to whatever facts that Conway and Trump pull out of their asses

Funnily enough, most of the people i have on facebook who supported trump during the campaign and shared all the memes about liberals and safe spaces and liberal tears have all been rather quiet these last two months

younger supporters, that is. the older middle class generation still have a raging hard-on for the guy

Fixed that for ya.
And the point is that they're doubling down on completely unfounded bullshit while attacking people for so much as asking about these ties to Russia.
Predictably this liar doesn't have even one legged evidence, never mind cooked up evidence, that Obama ordered wiretaps of the Trump tower. Just more feelz before realz, as always.
Investigations are usually predicated on suspicions rather than evidence anyway, I suppose.

It always amazes me how consistently you're able to defend even the most inane bullshit.
How do you do it? More importantly, why?
I'll be happy when more and more people become openly angry about this type of crap.
Also, I have no idea what McCarthyism is, but it sounds terrible.

Such as the Benghazi investigations

Are you being sarcastic or did you not take a history class in school?

Zip up that vitriol for a moment and actually think about the post, god dammit. You don't investigate to back up the evidence you already gave, you investigate to confirm or deny your suspicions. Dismissing cases out of hand doesn't get anything done.

Believe it or not, many students and schools gloss over political history. It's not terribly interesting either.
Such as the Benghazi investigations
Case in point. Attack looked to be spontaneous terrorism, but a suspicion of negligence and/or treason sparked a Congressional investigation. Nothing has yet been found to back up this suspicion, and in fact the supposed perpetrator has been effectively exonerated. This is how the system works, people.

It's not like the 2nd Red Scare was some random, insignificant political side event. It was a staple in my education from like 5th or 6th grade.
