Well the movie was a bit off.. But insanely close.

I find it sad that the last time he saw his father was when he ran away.. Must have been devastating to his father not knowing where his son was. Maybe even somehow feeling it was his fault he ran away.

The movie made it to show that he did talk to his father (mail, phone(?), and even in person).. But the movie also showed him as an only child.
