Nobel Prize-winning scientist Prof Peter Higgs has revealed he did not know he had won the award until a woman congratulated him in the street.
Prof Higgs, who does not own a mobile phone, said a former neighbour had pulled up in her car as he was returning from lunch in Edinburgh.
He added: "She congratulated me on the news and I said 'oh, what news?'"
this guy seems to be a good example of the "absent minded professor" stereotype lol.
Higgs is an awesome person.
He has an amazing mind yet doesn't use it for fame, fortune, or destruction, he just uses it to further our understanding of the universe.

we've been celebrating ol' higgsy boy here in the burgh.
According to all the professors, he buggered off up to the highlands with no connection to the outside world for a few days whilst the prizes were being announced. This article is totally genuine.
And apparently he can't use modern technology to save his life anyway (phones, computers, etc)

High-level physics and math is pretty much just about shoving symbols around. It doesn't make you more proficient at modern technology.
When they confirmed the Higgs Boson, he must've been overwhelmed to have seen something he theorized back in the 60s become confirmed within his lifetime.
