-Synopsis
Back Story from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel is a vampire who has been cursed with a soul. He has spent the last century living with the guilt of all the people he's killed and lives he's ruined. He moved to Sunnydale and fell in love with a Vampire Slayer: Buffy. Although, there's a catch. If Angel has a moment of true happiness (such as having a commited relationship with Buffy), he'll lose his soul, and revert back into his former self: Angelus- possibly the most ruthless vampire in existence. Knowing he cannot love Buffy, he leaves Sunnydale during the Season 3 Finale.
Focus of the Show
Angel has now relocated to Los Angeles where he hopes he can do some good. He forms Angel Investigations- a private detective agency dedicated to helping the helpless. With help from old friends, Angel begins to help the lost souls of LA, by taking out vampires, demons, and other things that go bump in the night.

The show ran on for five seasons. During the filming for the fifth season, Joss Whedon was almost certain that it would be picked up for another season. Sadly, it wasn't and the show ended on a semi-cliffhanger.
Recommended for those who enjoy: Vampires (fuck Twilight, by the way), Noir, fight scenes, witty writing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Enjoy.
Love Angel and Buffy, everybody should watch at least one episode from both. They really are great.
I kinda like Angel.
It runs every now and the on TV, what I've seen is very interesting.
I did watch Buffy in the past, not regularly though, so I know who Angel is. I heard about this but never have watched it because no one aired it here. And because I wasn't really that big of a fan of Buffy I didn't feel like looking it up online.
This TV show is pretty rad, the last season is the most enjoyable in my opinion.
[sp]When Spike comes back.[/sp]
When this was on I watched every episode religiously, same with Buffy.
I've watched every episode of Buffy, but never seen an episode of this. I really think I should.
The only episode I remember is the one where the old luchador throws Angel through a glass window or something and there was a demon or something that ate people's hearts. They show Angel on TNT at 3 AM here.
I recently finished watching all of Buffy, I was considering watching this. I wasn't going to, but then I heard it has Spike in the later seasons so I was sold. Fucking love Spike.

Ah yes, The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco. I watched that one last week.
Muppet Angel was the best.
"Maybe its a kind of puppet cancer."
"I do not have puppet cancer!"

Greatest moment of the greatest episode of Buffy or Angel.
I always preferred Angel over BTVS. The Scooby gang is great, but Angel always had better character development and less high school.
After watching Buffy and then seeing Angel, I'd have to say that Angel is pretty much superior in every way.
Buffy is still really good, mind you, but I just prefer the darker and more mature tone of Angel.
Also, Illyria is pretty much the best character ever.
The thing about Angel over Buffy, I think Angel had far fewer 'bad' episodes. Both shows were great, but there are a lot of Buffy episodes I didn't like. And I hated season 6 (with the exception of Once More with Feeling).
Angel was awesome but it's a shame it started the Whedon really-good-show-gets-cancelled streak.
Oh and it has one of the best intro themes ever.
for some reason I bought the last season before the rest, but I have seen most of the previous seasons.
One question, why is Cordie in a Coma.
One question, why is Cordie in a Coma.
Spoiler for the end of season 4...
[sp]Cordelia turns out to be the "beastmaster" (she's possessed by one of the powers that be, they're like gods if you don't know what they are). When the rogue PTB (aka Jasmine) manifests itself, it uses Cordelia as a surrogate mother and the process leaves her in a coma. If none of this made sense to you, you really should have watched season 4 before asking the question.[/sp]
I like Buffy more, always liked the characters. Some of the characters seem forced in Angel, like that Gunn guy.
Gunn was fucking great in s5 though.
'Hey turns out, I own a helicopter!'
Loved season 5 so much

I remember watching this when I was younger and my parents stopped me because the episode at cordelia's home with the ghost scared the living shit out of me
Yeah, I'd have to say that Season 5 is probably the best of the seasons.

Agreed, it's fun to see what happens when they get handed more money and resources than they know what to do with.
It's a fucking crime that it was cancelled just as it was hitting its stride though.
All thanks to an over-zealous Joss Whedon attempting to force network execs to renew the show earlier.
I recommed reading the comic series that takes place after the series. It is technically 'canon', most of it is written by Joss and series writers. I have the first 2 volumes.
He did the same thing with Buffy. He also made a Prequel comic to 'Serenity'
Yeah, I've read them all.
They... they just aren't the same though. :smith:
This thread has made me whip out the box-sets, up to season 5's 'Damage', one of my favourite episodes :D
