I'm not challenging the sales figures or something, but from what many sites are saying, tablets (mostly ipad) is a super fast grow market and the sales are amazing :fappery:
Yet...I've never met anyone who has actually owned an ipad/tablet (or at least, no one has ever had one around, or mentioned it, or acknowledged they own it, or...anything ever) except for my friend who just got one for college (he wants to be an engineer, he is using it for handwritten notes in math or w/e)
The only time people where I live talk about tablets is if they: A.) make fun of it, including Apple Zealots, B.) Ask why it exists, or why someone would want it, C.) go "OMFG APPLE SO AWESOME DID YOU HEAR? IPAD 2 OMG" D.) those things are expensive.
Yet according to like...every tech site on the web, ipads have taken over PC's or some crazy shit like that. It's like bigger than when Michael Jackson died or something. Is this like 3DTV's where tech sites made it sound like no one in the world will not have one but everyone IRL did not give a care in the world? Am I the only one? And I live in a fairly wealthy area in Southern California.
All these filthy rich blond dudes who drive giant trucks and brag about their bike and dessert tricks or whatever. bongs, hookah, alcohol, old fashioned joints, etc :350:
Ah, yeah?
It's people like my Mom who has one. It's not really the Under-25 crowd.
One of my friend's rich grandparents have one.
Another one of my friend's rich grandparents use it to watch tv.
... I have no rich grandparents...
I bought one a little over a year ago.
I only know one person who has an Ipad and that's my principal. I guess I just need to go to either coast of the United States and find an "art school."
Tablets are really popular in big cities. I see a lot of people walk around with iPads and/or that Samsung imitation all of the time when I go down to Columbus. It's a lot easier than carrying a laptop.
I guess Apple is making the next step forward, though, and is making a new operating system a step up from Snow Leopard, called Lion, which is supposed to look/feel more like an iPad without being an iPad. I don't see the purpose of that at ALL but w/e apple do your thing
I saw a guy on the train yesterday with an ipad or some other tablet and it looked fucking ridiculous.
He had it on his lap, staring down at it in a position what looked as the quickest way to break your fucking neck.

Huh that might explain a bit, I live in one of those stereotypical "rich suburbs".

If you're going to argue that the Tab is an imitation then I'll just run around telling everyone the ipad is an imitation of earlier tablets even though it's much different.
I know people with Sittique tablets, but those things are 2000$ and are for artists.
Why anyone would get an iPad is beyond me.
I've seen at least 50 people with tablets, mostly iPads.
Their pretty cool to have, just doesn't seem worth $700.

not just that, all the talk is about how Intel, AMD, Nvidia are all wanting to make tablet hardware over PC hardware. Think forums more along the lines of overclock.net.
And many people say we are going to be living in a "Post-PC World" very soon :froggonk:
My dad uses a tablet, not sure what brand it is though.
I think it's weird that I see guys on the subway with iPads, anytime I take anything half as expensive as that out on the subway people try to steal it
I guess Apple is making the next step forward, though, and is making a new operating system a step up from Snow Leopard, called Lion, which is supposed to look/feel more like an iPad without being an iPad. apple is a market starter
they have a good idea, shittily make it a reality, then other companies do the same thing except they do it right
Other than at the Apple store, I haven't seen a tablet in my life.
although sacrificeing processing power they step up with mobility
its easy to walk with an ipad while using it with a labtop you need to stop and sit down to use it
the ipad is also more organised and easy to use need pictures go in your pictures with the press of the button and a tab of the finger
I didn't know what they costed.
hahhaheHAH wow
Quite a bit of them are cheaper then that.

Yeah I wouldn't want to be caring around a easy to steal $700 one piece picture frame either lol

Agreed, I love how Android is shaping.
Other than at the Apple store, I haven't seen a tablet in my life.
I've never been to an Apple Store, I can't see myself spending any money at one either.
And many people say we are going to be living in a "Post-PC World" very soon :froggonk:
i imagine the same thing happened after the first laptops came out
apart from some generalized laws (like Moore's and Gate's) you can't really predict the future of technology
I suppose, but I really don't see how the ipad is as popular as sites say they are, when no one IRL cares about them, and the ones that do don't own one because they can't justify the cost or they don't see its use. And there are people at my school in fucking rich cars too.
One a more random note I wonder how the 3DS is selling here now that it seems everyone abandoned their DS's for smarthpones. It also could be the "I'm to cool to play videogames except for Xbox 360/sometimes PS3" Bro atmosphere. Literally where I live people objectively say handhelds are for kids, and based off of what I see, only little kids actually use their DS in public.
