Man, operators wear their pakhol in the derpiest way possible :v: dunno if this counts but how to Taliban for NATO dummies (Taken from my Muj group)
There is a lot of overlap between Soviet Afghan War mujahideen and Taliban kit. Generally speaking: Soviet Afghan War mujahideen -DO NOT color coordinate their outfits- usually no two items will match, and no one will match anyone else -DO NOT wear shemagh/keffiyeh (unless you are from an Arabic country ) -DO NOT wear Western civilian clothing, except in large cities like Kabul -DO NOT carry radios (only late war, and very rare) -DO NOT carry canteens (water is carried and stored in communal jugs) -DO NOT have more than one piece of load bearing equipment -DO NOT carry more than one weapon -DO NOT use Chinese Type 81 four cell AK chestrigs (these were current issue in China at the time) -Facial hair is clean shaven, mustache, or beard Sometimes wear Western military clothing (typically captured or supplied jackets), usually late war -Usually wear sandals or locally made leather shoes, but military boots and sneakers are sometimes seen Taliban -DO NOT color coordinate their outfits- usually no two items will match, and no one will match anyone else -DO NOT carry more than one weapon Chinese Type 81 four cell AK chestrigs sometimes used -Keffiyeh/shemagh uncommon -More than one piece of load bearing equipment is more common -Handheld radios are more common -Western civilian clothing sometimes worn in urban areas -Nylon load bearing equipment sometimes used -Beard is at least the length of a fist (easily hidden by dismaal or lungee if you don't have/can't grow a beard) Videos How to tie a lungee (turban) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV39Xijqhuo How to roll a pakol hat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YPaH51uJt8 Afghanistan's Endless Jihad: The Mujahideen vs the Soviets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKlHa-J1vIQ Behind the Taliban Mask: The Other Side of Afghanistan's Front Line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OI8Y0jjM0k The Shady Afghan Warlords Whom the US Pays to Fight the Taliban http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUzfWfyuaag Helicopter footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMuGSNV_juM Vendors https://www.facebook.com/afgbazaar (walk-in store, Fremont, CA) http://www.afgclassics.com http://www.zarinas.com Culture http://www.afghanistan-culture.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pashtunwali (the way of the Pashtuns)
[editline]19th December 2014[/editline] protip for dudes doing Afghan Taliboo, be sure to get the payraan tumbaan with the folded down collars, since Afghanis wore those more often the ones with the straight collars are usually worn by Pakistani Jihadists which was more prevalent in Soviet Afghan where Pakistan trained Muj guys to fight Soviets [editline]19th December 2014[/editline] Also brotip: roll your pakhol all the way up and wear it literally on the tip of your head Afghanis never wore it down like a lot of floperators do, and neither did Delta at the time, it looks ridiculous
i feel like the pakol would just fall off if you wore it on the tip, if you were operating hard enough??
i feel like the pakol would just fall off if you wore it on the tip, if you were operating hard enough??
That's why I wore it the way I did. If it was rolled up it would have just slid off my 'ead
i feel like the pakol would just fall off if you wore it on the tip, if you were operating hard enough??
nope, from personal experience if you get it right it doesn't fall off at all plus look at all these afghan dudes running around you can wear it lower but be sure you have the pakhol rolled all the way up 'cause this just screams "hello I am HATO can I fit in yet"

and based on the delta photo, I'm sure those guys were briefed on how to wear the pakhol somewhat correctly so they don't look iffy from a distance main thing is rolling it all the way up, or at least don't wear it like a beanie. Pashtun coolpoints if you can get it up as high as you can
I shall try my pakol all rolled up on and post the results [editline]20th December 2014[/editline] it fits ok I guess but it falls off if I move my head too much. Have to remember though that I have a massive head, and this pakol was probably made for normal human beans [editline]20th December 2014[/editline] there we go. I unrolled it to roll it back up and there was a strip of wool inside the roll. I took it out and now it fits my head much better fully rolled up [editline]20th December 2014[/editline] for reference [t]http://i.imgur.com/CHApzO2.jpg?1[/t]
whoa hey shit i actually have a pakol sitting around somewhere in my little storage/armory lol totally forgot i ordered one way back, never wore it
for reference [t]http://i.imgur.com/CHApzO2.jpg?1[/t]
looks good, the only thing I would suggest is a more circular 'rolled up' look but if it keeps falling off do it your way
I tried doing a tighter roll but I cant seem to get it as tight as in the pictures you posted.
I tried doing a tighter roll but I cant seem to get it as tight as in the pictures you posted.
ah wait, automatically assumed you had an insert to allow the pakhol to be rolled up looking more circular basically the way it works is, you have this rolled up towel, rat tail looking piece of fabric that roll with the pakhol to help with the more 'ring' looking appearance completely forgot about that part ignore what I just said :v:
No justice till HK21 is a thing

Glad this thread is a thing. Going home in a couple days, so Tora Bora (sort of) kit inbound.
Heavy WIP. I got the pakol and shemagh in today. Ordered the 0290, so now I just need the RAID DCU and to buy my new WE M4. Whats the most accurate PEQ2 replica? [t]http://i.imgur.com/M9TSDoh.jpg[/t]
G&P makes the best PEQ-2.
why do you have binoculars in your bathroom
It's for when he has to wash his privates.
Welp, mine's done. Consider it a really loose, modern interpretation (read: my regular kit but with a patu). [t]http://i.imgur.com/QS2kXlC.jpg[/t] Click for bigger.
Those arm things are awesome
Thanks, they turned out pretty good for $20. Super warm too. [editline]11th January 2015[/editline] But Jesus Christ I tried playing in the patu today and it was fucking hot. Also it does not like staying put during ~operations~.
Great, look what we've done: http://www.reddit.com/r/airsoft/comments/2s9bal/durka_durka/
is he wearing an oversize dress shirt as some sort of field-expedient perahan wa tumban? WTF??? [editline]13th January 2015[/editline] also lmao at "This is awesome! Old school kits are wicked." in what world does: mayflower chest rig + dumb XXL dress shirt + desert night camo + non-period m4 setup = old-school kit???
r/airsoft is absolutely retarded
r/airsoft literally has the largest concentration of people who are just plain old fucking stupid in one place I've ever seen
what the fuck happened this is the only airsoft thread i can find
what the fuck happened this is the only airsoft thread i can find
you might want to sit down son
i was going to post about receiving my secret santa gift, which are an awesome set of MBUS, but the whole section disappeared and for a second, I thought i might have been banned
it's the end of ifap as we know it and i feel fine
This is the only non-locked IFAP thread i could find so I'll suggest it here: We really need a steam or facebook group or something. If we have an FB group we can still post loadouts/guns on there.
