My name is Brent ‘Brentonator’ McAhren and I'm part of the No More room in Hell team. I've come here in what has become a dead end struggle to get our 100% original content monetized on YouTube. As it stands right now, we have been completely denied monetization on the majority of our popular videos with no method for appeals. Google reserves the final decision on all monetization requests. ________ We've tried multiple methods of refuting the baseless claims YouTube has made requiring "explicit permission to use the rights holder’s content commercially". David ‘Dman’ Meade's attempts have been to thoroughly satisfy their requirements by posting contracts from team members who have produced content for us, including Garrett ‘ThoughT’ Lindquist’s soundtracks, etc. David’s detailed and thorough process resulted in our Steam launch trailer being denied monetization outright. My attempt was to go another route and try to clarify that we are the original rights holders, giving full legal information for that including that our account representative is fully authorized. This resulted in Google requesting written permission from the original rights holders but, as our contracts state, and I just told them, we are original rights holders with the work being completed under contract. We have even attempted to blend in by acting like a Let's Play YouTuber using the standard No More Room in Hell video policy and that did not work.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1t9sxi/youtube_rejected_no_more_room_in_hell_monetization/
Ah Google, what can't you do right with youtube?
When is the new Youtube going to be created?
Ah Google, what can't you do right with youtube?
Because they're shit, edit: who doesn't give a fuck of its users.
I'm convinced Google has completely handed the keys to Youtube's copyright system over to the big rightsholders. It's not protecting artists, it's corporate censorship.
I'm convinced Google has completely handed the keys to Youtube's copyright system over to the big rightsholders. What I'm curious about is how YouTube doesn't have a lawsuit on their hands. Some of these claims are so ludicrous it would be laughable if not for peoples livelihoods being in jeopardy. I know it has been hashed out about a million times now but doesn't fair use doctrine make a large majority of these claims moot?
i hope a competitor to youtube rises soon.
i hope a competitor to youtube rises soon.
redtube
I'd find it ironic if one of the big porn video sites makes their own video site for non porn content. [editline]wait[/editline] But on the other hand, they already have it all figured out. Duplicate the porn site, wipe the old content and redecorate & reskin it. Host it on a separate server park with a new url and bam!!, youtube competitor.
I'd find it ironic if one of the big porn video sites makes their own video site for non porn content.
just use dailymotion and get a 2 in 1 deal
redtube
Well at least with redtube the fucking over is out in the open.
While I agree its fucking stupid that Youtube and Google and pulling this shit, it's not censorship.
This Not being able to monetize your video is not censorship
I'm convinced Google has completely handed the keys to Youtube's copyright system over to the big rightsholders. To stop issues like this requires a bit of work, like verifying channels, and it hadn't proven to be an issue before.
This isn't new, I wasn't able to monetize the Mayro Kratt trailer even though i own everything in it
This isn't new, I wasn't able to monetize the Mayro Kratt trailer even though i own everything in it
Still resembles characters owned by Nintendo, so I'm not surprised.
Seems to be the trend these days. Unpopular changes are made to a thing, there is uproar and public outcry and a tiny piece of the change is reverted. Then a bigger, more unpopular change comes in and everyone bandwagons about that till the partial fix and the next rotten change happens. I suspect the folks calling it progress stand to benefit in some manner from the change, or rather, the ones benefiting the most from it are the ones responsible. Doesn't matter. It's the new way and no one is getting the old way back. Just feel good that no one is calling you a backwards hick for wanting the old monetization scheme back.

Wait, I'm confused. I thought content owners had to submit their content to the contentID system (since it's basically impossible to find an unbiased explanation of the system). If they're fine with user videos, and have no intention to take ad revenue from stuff using their content, why opt in?
redtube
you know that could happen if YouTube does keep this bullshit up all redtube would have to do is turn it's porn part of it's site into some 18+ area and rest of the site is just like youtube before it went to shit.
I seriously do hope that any Youtube competitor is hosted outside of the US, preferable in a country that isn't butt-buddies with the US or the bitch of RIAA and MPAA. Then it would be possible for it to be focusing on helping the little guy, instead of the big companies with hordes of lawyers smelling blood.
redtube
when you think about it what other companies besides google have the have the bandwidth for a video service used by millions?
redtube
pornographic lets plays.
pornographic lets plays.
lets plays with ourselves
lets plays with ourselves
There's plenty of people playing with themselves on porn sites already
i hope a competitor to youtube rises soon.
Waiting for Garry to set up a video sharing site called "rust bucket" to house all Rust related videos.
"Like, favorite, and subscribe!........also, here's my dick."
