• Chrome to Surpass IE Market Share in 3 weeks
    39 replies, posted

According to StatCounter, IE is losing market share at an accelerated pace, while Firefox has stabilized and Chrome is still climbing. If the current trend holds up, Chrome will be exceeding IE global market share for the first time within the next three weekends. Chrome is much more a weekend browser than any other browser with market shares substantially climbing on Saturdays and Sundays. Last weekend, Chrome climbed to 31.22 percent, which is in close proximity to IE's 33.28 percent. Last week, Chrome reached 30.96 percent and IE fell to 34.64 percent. On month ago, Chrome was at 29.83 percent and IE 35.35 percent. There is some fluctuation, but the trend is amazingly consistent with Microsoft having not found a recipe to halt IE's decline. When Chrome passes IE, it will be the first time since 1997 that a browser other than IE holds the crown of being the most popular browser. Firefox, by the way, has stabilized in the 24 to 25 percent range. StatCounter data also indicates that Chrome currently needs about six to eight weeks to reach its peak market on an average basis. Again, if this trend holds up, then IE will have lost its market share leadership on by the end of May (according to StatCounter).

[editline]17th February 2012[/editline] http://www.tomsguide.com/us/chrome-ie-browsers-firefox-market-share,news-14180.html
Chrome logo is hollow pie chart of current browser usage.
Long live google chrome.
Love chrome.
I love Chrome
Never thought the day would come. This thread better not end up as an IE bashing thread though.
Chrome is a good backup browser but it lacks a couple addons I use on Nightly. But then again magnet links and Battlelog don't work on (my) Nightly for some reason, so my Chrome gets regular usage apart from checking my emails.

Chrome master race. I can't live without my Google Reader and Google Mail notifications addons.
The bandwagon meets the internet.
Someone likes something else. Obviously bandwagon.
The bandwagon meets the internet.
Chrome is far more developed than any other browser right now, and it has a viciously fast development cycle too.
About time, Chrome is just about everything you could ever want in a browser, and I love how much customization it supports

Chrome is good when something doesn't work on opera, otherwise I just use opera, I have my reasons.
Oh boy here we go again One prefers chrome, the other Firefox or Opera Simple as that
although Google Chrome is a great web browser, we can all agree on which is the best one. [sp]steam web browser[/sp]
i've heard chrome is better than firefox, but i really cba to get used to a new browser
I like Firefox because I've always used it. I don't want to change.
Just add an option to change the header/footer for printing and Chrome is complete.
So one big corporate giant replaces another. Yay!
More like a couple corporate giants overtook another that's had a stranglehold on web browser share for more than 15 years It's not just google, Mozilla and whoever the hell makes opera (:v:) had a pretty big role in this too
i've heard chrome is better than firefox, but i really cba to get used to a new browser
Personally, I can't stomach any browser that doesn't suffer from catastrophic memory leaks on an hourly basis. If they could implement that in Chrome I'd switch in a heartbeat.
Chromes awesome, don't know why it's messing/corrupting my downloads

I like chrome but opera's block content function is irresistible.
here you go hun http://gyazo.com/255fd2d9f377ddd51f4a27e50c8f01b0
I just checked Chrome's memory usage on my end. 5 tabs, 1gb total memory usage. What the fuck. Restarted Chrome, back to normal, but that was one hell of a shock.
I use Opera. Mostly for the widgets and the speed dial. But I use Chrome at school.
I still don't understand why my school has IE, wait do people invest in IE?
Interesting http://netmarketshare.com/browser-market-share.aspx?qprid=0&qpcustomd=0 It's possible that statcounter just polls a different userbase. - Techies for instance are less likely to use IE.
chrome is a good browser that does not have memory leaks just kidding WHY
