• Tips on explovie force training?

Hello fellow Facepunchers! Just today i started out at boxing. Probably the most exhuasting thing i have ever done. Oh well but here it goes. I would like to get some advice on training your explosive force in the upper and lower body, since its what you use in boxing. I'm not new to weightlifting (been doing it for a year), though not much experience en explosive force. Help anyone? Much appreciated. [Damn, can a mod please correct the title]
Clap pushups, pushups where you jump your whole body off the ground, do pull ups and pull yourself as fast as you can, try and actually get off the bar a little bit, when benching, push it up as fast as you can each rep. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] Oh and while i boxed for a while, i used to do continuous jump ropes with weighted jump ropes, working on flipping the jumprope multiple times in a jump gets your hand eye coordination, and skills way ucking fast. swag.
Explosive movements and isometric exercises are the way to go. Do your bench presses, pull ups and squats as explosive as you can, meaning you have to reach a high, one time peek in speed. Not moving in the same quick tempo all the time. Then you have isometrics which increase your maximal strength. Since max strength and explosiveness go hand in hand until a certain level, training one increases both. There's also an old shaolin method to achieve absurd power and explosiveness: moving extremely slow. Even slower than you do Tai Chi Chuan forms, you have to move so slow you don't even seem to be moving. Do this for half an hour a day, every day. Since you practice boxing and as such, don't have any particular form, do shadow boxing with this approach instead. Always use your whole body, and focus on punches while stepping in any direction or sinking/rising. Last monk to have been trained like this was in 1928, sadly I do not recall his name, gotta look it up. He said that especially the young monks hated this training, because it's so excruciating. Oh, and don't be afraid if sudden emotions show up. You could become very angry, cry, laugh, fall asleep, what have you. You loosen barricades in your unconsciousness :)
^wut?..
Welp, I'm into martial arts quite a bit.
I was more questioning the feelings of "you may cry in happiness etc" I didnt think explosive training was the same as a womans orgasm ;p
Plyometric pushups.
You may express such emotions because everything you suppressed, every trauma you shoved into your unconsciousness gets retrieved back into your conscious mind. Well, not the trauma itself. Recalling every moment and picture of the scenario. But rather the feelings that have been neglected come up once again, and express themselves. Moving at such a slow pace affects your reptilian brain section, so it's nothing unordinary.
I honestly would like to try that. But then again i have no skill in martial arts, and i would think i look like a total faggot doing that in my room. :l
Who sees you in your room? ;)
Um some stupid shit in this thread Just train heavy, 4-7 reps, always leave one or even two reps "in the hole" so to speak (i.e never go to failure). Even if you feel like you are going slow, the key is to focus on trying to lift/push as fast as you can with good form.

However attaching weight to your hands and start doing punching exercises would help.
No. LIFTING, wouldn't help. However attaching weight to your hands and start doing punching exercises would help.
I'm sure you would know a whole lot about lifting.
I'm sure you would know a whole lot about lifting.
No, but I do know a lot about explosive strength.
When you do this, start carefully. If you are untrained, you hurt your joints like shit because the weight keeps pulling the joint in the punching direction.
not good to do weights. better to put a resistance band around a post and start doing shadowboxing. Good for explosive weight, increases speed, and works you out like a boss.
No, but I do know a lot about explosive strength.
No you clearly don't know a fucking thing about how the body works. LMAO you think weight training doesn't help explosive strength. Hey retard what do you think olympic lifters do? How about sprinters? Rago really should be not allowed to post in this section. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] I'm tempted to write up a long winded post explaining to you what fucking explosive strength and speed-strength is and how they are trained, but past experience indicates you wouldn't listen and it would be a waste of my time. Go back to doing planches and tucking your cock tia.
Not a big fan of explosive training because of the risk of pulling a muscle.

Also stop acting like a douche pretending that lifting is the only solution for everything in the world. Shit, what's next, lifting cures cancer?
He's right though, you don't seem to know what you're talking about most of the time.
Sure, in the beginning I didn't know shit. But then again, I still don't know too much about lifting. But I do know however that lifting helps you gain muscle weight, muscle weight would slow down your muscles.
What the- no, it would not slow you fucking down. You are FASTER because your muscles are BIGGER and can pull STRONGER, so again, you move FASTER. You have to make your new muscle weight useful with different drills first, but it's only beneficial.
Ty for all the answers, since my muscles is pretty fucking sore after practice yesterday ill try some of this out in the gym tomorrow. :v: Also boxing is darn fun!

True, but muscle mass doesn't make you any slower, so who cares.
Yes, but you can achieve the same amount of strength and speed without gaining too much mass.
So, you'd rather have the same amount of strength/speed but you want to be skinnier? Why am I not surprised...

I'm going to break this down for you: Stop talking about shit you have no fucking clue about. Do you even know what fast twitch fibers are and how they are maximally stimulated? Do you know why every footballer, sprinter, wrestler and olympic lifter has by and large a good weight training program? You're an idiot. [editline]25th August 2011[/editline] and hth literally NO ONE reaches the point where muscle mass slows them down except professional bodybuilders who are on a boatload of anabolics and are not training for speed/power anyway. [editline]25th August 2011[/editline]
Yes, but you can achieve the same amount of strength and speed without gaining too much mass.
A) no you can't B) weightlifting won't make you gain mass unless you are eating a caloric surplus. How the fuck do you think powerlifters can stay in a low weight class? Oh wait ofc, they are doing tuck planche and dragon flags, my bad. Again you are talking out of your ass on shit you have no fucking clue about.

Lifting weights can increase the size and strength of your muscles, I'll give you that, but generally only increases the size and strength of muscles than are seen that have aesthetic value. But it does not address majority of muscles that have no aesthetic value such as ligaments and tendons, and leaves ligaments and tendons weak. You wouldn't want that, now would you? Weight training also decreases flexibility, so it's hindering the the flow of energy through the body. Calisthenics however increases strength and a little size, but it prevents all that other stuff.
Everyone stop being little bitches and arguing over whos smarter and who has the bigger 3 inch cock, and actually focus on the topic at hand, explosive strength workouts.
