I'm getting sick of all the YouTube personality drama that has been going on. There is so much profiteering of it all that it makes one try to top the other in how ridiculous they're wanting to sound, imo.
Rubin is the biggest shill ever. He claims to be liberal and someone who wants balanced discussion yet the only people he ever invites on his show are far right loons or people "on the left" who just reinforce talking points his hard right audience likes.
In his AmA he said he thinks Trump is doing a "decent job". He's terrified of remotely upsetting or challenging his audience because of his paycheck. I can't wait for this alt right shit show to collapse and I hope Youtube can just return to how it was in the past.

Had a mate that kept going on about how you needed to be neutral and fact driven and stuff. But aparrantly shittalking Trump based on the shit he has said and done was wrong

Somewhat unrelated but if we're talking about entire Youtube channels undergoing drama, Planet Dolan might be next on the chopping block sooner or later from what I've seen.
Youtube in its current state hasn't been known for being a place for thoughtful conversation.
Can this guy ever speak like a proper human being for once? It's like every """""argument"""" in the video is a strawman. A strawman for Armored Skeptic, a strawman for Jordan Peterson, a strawman for anyone in the skeptic community, and then slurping noises. What the fuck is this?
He literally has a badly drawn Armored Skeptic in the thumbnail, it's like he's not even subtle about it. Why do people watch this dipshit?
Like I agree that that side of YouTube is a cesspool, but isn't this guy the guy who had the shit fit over animators and refused to believe that it was a difficult job and all?
It's like he has a good point but it's buried underneath an incredibly obnoxious exterior and rife with strawmen

Should he speak like the intellectuals of the skeptic community? :v:
Also he doesn't edit his youtube videos himself, he has someone else do all that.

Well, that would be a good start at least. I don't watch YouTube skeptics because their videos are way too long, boring, and I disagree with them too much, but I've never seen them go on a butthurt-fueled strawman-burning spree before.
Like I agree that that side of YouTube is a cesspool, but isn't this guy the guy who had the shit fit over animators and refused to believe that it was a difficult job and all?
Oh god I remember that now, it coincided with the JonTron drama too.
What Destiny said back then was absolutely insulting and only made himself look more like a complete ass.
This guy has always came off the wrong way to me, like one of those people that always starts drama just for the views.

this video is probably a deliberate piece of bait.
Youtube community drama response back and forth videos are the nerdy internet equivalent of trash reality TV.
This guy has always came off the wrong way to me, like one of those people that always starts drama just for the views.
He's Destiny, he just likes to share his opinion and talk politics and other controversial topics. He invites random people on his stream all the time to talk about things. He's not just doing it for attention.
And to others criticizing him for the strawmans, this is just a clip of him ranting. It's purpose isn't to build some sophisticated and thought out argument.
Like I agree that that side of YouTube is a cesspool, but isn't this guy the guy who had the shit fit over animators and refused to believe that it was a difficult job and all?
Nope. The whole thing was the animators completely misunderstanding what he meant. Then they all pounced on him.

He quite deliberately won't upload something if the person who comes on asks him not to. He's pretty much genuinely into these things.
Also this video probably wasn't even uploaded by him, he has an editor that splices clips from the stream that he thinks are interesting and throws them up lol.
Nope. The whole thing was the animators completely misunderstanding what he meant. Then they all pounced on him.
I think it's pretty unfair of people to ride him for that at this point and say shit like how he doesn't think animating is a hard job or that he thinks it's impossible for blue collar workers to take pride in their work. But he handled that shit very idiotically and abrasively at the time I think everyone should at least admit.
what he says isn't wrong, but i don't think that's enough to get people who disagree with him to listen, which should be higher on his list of priorities during his debates and stuff. insulting and acting cocky towards these people, even if it's deserved, will accomplish very little and more likely just end up with the same groups of people just getting mad at each other.
How is anyone supposed to take you seriously when you criticize someone for criticizing someone else when you yourself didn't even bring any proof to the table? Even this person you accuse of strawmaning is doing that. Sargon "I wouldn't even rape you, twitter is oppressing me by banning me for sending gay porn to people I don't like" being a lying dipshit who doesn't even read his own sources isn't a fucking strawman. There are hours upon hours of videos on Youtube dissecting and documenting every single bit of bullshit the skeptic community spews out like clockwork, you could spend the better part of the day watching it and you wouldn't even be anywhere near close to getting the breadth of it. It's a well documented fact and people like armored skeptic are well aware of that when they're fucking endorsing and openly associating themselves silver tongued dipshits like sargon.

I agree that a lot of those YouTube sceptics are 'cancer', but so is this guy.
This is a dumb incoherent rant that achieves nothing other than making himself look like an asshole. As well as this, some of the claims he makes against particular people here are pretty slanderous or exaggerated.
While Destiny is a cunt it doesn't change what he says or how right he is.
"Skeptics" are the most irritating people on the internet. They lie to themselves and others about how fair and balanced they are and how they're actually "MODERATE" or "CLASSICAL LIBERAL" like how being left right or center has anything to do with how fair you are.
Their jenga tower of bullshit is built on two misconceptions,
1. "they took a political compass test and were labeled a moderate, therefor they must have moderate opinions"
2. "since they are a moderate, they must be fair and balanced when it comes to listening to both sides of the debate"
The reality is they took a political compass test and their shitty extreme ideals averaged out to moderate so they flaunt that around because apparently being a moderate means that you have nothing to do with the "cancerous" left or right.
When your ideals consist of the left wing "college should be free, the government should give the middle class handouts, wall street is corrupt, but holy fuck fuck those fucking stupid feminazi SJW sluts and their stupid fucking useless university education jesus FUCK they make my blood boil i want them fucking gone from this planet they're ruining my fucking country i want them GONE GONE GONE as well as anyone who else who commits white male genocide" then you're going to place moderate on the political spectrum because that political compass test is literally designed to generalize your political position.

Except that's completely false. Most of his guests are either liberals or at most libertarians. Whenever he has a guest with even remotely progressive views he is always respectful and agrees with them on pretty much everything. If you think that he's afraid to make his viewership angry then you should see the dislike bar or read the comments of his videos where he has leftist/progressive guests. For instance, his interview with Thaddeus Russel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4YxSGFqOH8
Note most of the comments are calling him a stupid, dumb, idiot Marxist/postmodernist. Dave himself is perfectly happy talking with him, and obviously doesn't give a shit that people don't like him. Here's another example, check out Rubin's interview with Rabbi Wolpe:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIrs3KnPsUw
Loads of comments from alt-right anti-Semites calling Rubin a shill for the Jews when it's simply just an interview.
What I'm getting at here is the guests Rubin has on his show is not necessarily indicative of Rubin's political leanings. While it is true there is a tendency for his guests to share similar opinions with him, his guests are extremely diverse. From Laci Green to Milo, from Bret Weinstein to Glenn Beck, it's easy to see that he's not "shilling" for the right. That's just simply absurd. The alt-right fucking despise Rubin and pretty much everyone Destiny is criticizing. They're also not fence-sitters, and here's why: A) That would imply that they're indecisive about their opinions and are unable to "pick a side". B) They're all pretty decisive about their opinions and are glad to express them. That's why they make their videos and have an audience. C) Picking a side is redundant since they're all liberals.
There's an easy way to identify a liberal and that's to see if both progressives and alt-righters are calling them fence-sitting cowards.
As for Destiny, while he can be entertaining sometimes, he is the king of strawmans. He's so stuffed full of straw he's a fucking scarecrow.
[editline]p[/editline]
I will also agree with Destiny that the ~skeptic community~ is fucking cancer and most of them are often hypocrites. The only few good ~skeptics~ (who aren't even part of the community) are Captain Disillusion, CoolHardLogic, and Kraut and Tea. In the case of Kraut and Tea who is under the category of sociopolitical commentary, I appreciate him a lot for criticizing both leftists and actual neo-nazis as well as Trump.

Honestly, this is what I think of Destiny and his bullshit.
People are charging in here, alternatively defending him with, "hey he's not a serious commentator like those silly skeptics," or, "hey, he may be chock full of bullshit, but he's got a point."
Except, those same people don't seem to be willing to entertain that said "skeptics" may have a "point," buried under their own bullshit, or that they too may just be "having a righteous laff."
Where the Alt-Right has "skeptics," people like Destiny make up the meat of the Internet Left. Call it the Alt-Left or the Tumblrs, or don't set it apart from the giant umbrella of the left at all, but these people do simply exist.
I'd call them, "factmen," or far more accurately, fucking pedants.
Their entire shtick revolves around barely justifying their argument with the nearest "reputable" facts, then vomiting over the people who have no facts, to the applause of whatever ideological base supports them. They never seem to engage someone with any credibility, and hone in on arguments that have more to do with inane, often semantic bullshit than any other principle, all while backing themselves up with a convenient, sometimes peculiarly curated (read cherry picked) veneer of facts.
They can be seen readily waffling between things like "Protect our Liberties!" and "The TPP did nothing wrong," or "I respect all people's rights," and, "Let's firebomb some Nazis before they firebomb us."
Said base then blindly supports them, alternating between robust strawmen, "He was only pretending to be retarded," the weakest of weak men, or "sure, he might be a cancerous troll, but he really has a point."

For someone who decries "robust strawmen" you sure are great at erecting them yourself. This post is the embodiment of what people are complaining about with Destiny's rant. It's incoherent, emotional, and based on nothing more than your own perception of large overlapping swathes of diverse people with even more diverse opinions. Saying that Destiny and his "people" "make up the meat of the internet left" is quite possibly one of the dumbest things I've read on facepunch in a while.
I'm sick of this combative attitude people like you have. The reason the political discourse is so caustic and divisive is because people like you dehumanize what you perceive as some kind of enemy into a homogenous blob of ideology. It's dishonest and reductionist.

That's a fact.

he wasn't saying animators were lazy, he was having a completely different discussion with psychicpebbles about the working class and then pebbles twisted it because he and the newgrounds guys were out for blood after jontron embarrassed himself. To be fair, destiny didn't handle himself particularly well in that situation, but the most you can say is that pretty much everyone came out looking like an ass.
