The PS3 cost about $900 to produce at launch, so while $599 sounds like a lot, it's still marked down.

Controllable with smartphones... Them touch controls suck but using it as an alternate display and an input method (for typing, selecting stuff, etc.) is pretty cool. It's like a more useful Wii U controller but in variable sizes.

If they did integrate smartphones controls it could be like to turn on/off simple stuff, old SE phones had the ability to mirror/turn on/off the PS3.

I like the idea of seeing your friends game in the background, however I hate the idea of them watching me play.

A ~450 dollar pricetag isn't really that bad considering you probably get a machine that will be supported for the next 5 years or so?
