How can they even live without the internet?
I'm sure I would start going into withdrawl without some kind of computer around.
I respect the Amish lifestyle, sure they're missing out on great advances and they basically live in their own little world but they're really interesting how they completely defy the society around them like they decided to just stay in the 1800s. I'd temporarily try it if I had the chance.
Styrofoam plates and cups? What.
My problem with the Amish lifestyle is that they force it upon their children and create a false-barrier from a world that, whether they like it or not, EXISTS, and is extremely prominent.
Oh, and of course, their take on what constitutes "modern" conveniences and what doesn't is entirely arbitrary, given even the limited technology THEY use, would still have been a lavish convenience at SOME point in past human history.
Amish people are just nuts.
They are pretty much purposely making their lives shitty and their children's. Waste of a life really.
In the first episode there was an Amish using a chain saw. WORST. AMISH. EVER.

You could try the 4od section of the channel 4 website, don't know if it works in other countries though
