I currently use a school loaned Sony PJ540 Camcorder and Manfrotto MT-055 Tripod. But within the month I'll be getting these: Camera: Canon Rebel T5i Lenses: Rokinon 16mm Cine T2.2-22 Microphones: Rode On-Camera VideoMic Audio Recorders: None Tripods: Davis & Stanford Provista 7518 Stabilizers: Vello ActionPan Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015 My favorite place to buy is B&H, since they ship to NJ in one day, and usually offer free shipping. Film school wont get you anywhere except personal experience. Educated myself for film and TV-production in a swedish college, and later traveled to Australia for film university for 4 years. Get a normal job and do some freelancing as a start; concerts, documentation, news stations, and indie-film for showcases so you can get contacts.

Also asking people who know more than me why something doesn't work, and using that to make the next things better.

No athlete can master their senses with a computer. It's 100% teamwork, learn from each other. That's why I began with indie-filming, you meet both amateurs and skilled creationists that just simply love what they do. Many people has no experience, and to be honest that is usually the fun part; problem solving is a daily habit for a film creator. I'm lucky to live in Sweden's most film contested city, so stuff like this happen several times a week, and it's easy to get an acceptable budget.
What Camera do you use/recommend?
Depends if it's for personal or professional use. I've used: - ARRI Alexa classic 765 (+ Mini) :: The best one so far but it's only for rental and just holding it was a great honor... I prepared this one, and did not operate it because it's like letting someone use an IMAX. - Panasonic AG-HPX250 :: Rented by a company I worked for. - Canon XH-A1S 3CCD HDV :: Somewhere around $500, saved for one and used it ever since (using standard lens). - Several cameras I don't remember when I work on concerts. - NIKON D7000 :: System cameras are actually used by many companies when an industrial budget camera isn't available. I own this one and I've always loved it; good for budget recording aswell (Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.4G lens)

So while I'm working on this music video I just got a deal for, I would like to make some super short things just for fun and practice. Any ideas that can be pulled off with just one man? It needs to be super short, like 2-3 minutes max.
Got a new lens: [t]http://i.imgur.com/I8TGPBZ.jpg[/t] Rokinon 16mm T2.2-22
