She has lived there for several years with a Dutch boyfriend. 2 days ago the mayor called for her deportation now some people are taking it into their own hands to intimidate, threaten and invade her privacy.
Yesterday, anti-Putin activists from around the world were posting the address on Twitter and urging Dutch people to set up a protest outside. One wrote: ‘Dear Dutch ppl! If you want to visit Putin’s daughter, [this is the] address.’ Another posted: ‘Dutch people can express their feelings about #MH17. Ask for Maria Putin (Faassen).’

There were demands for Maria to be deported and one Twitter user posted: “Its time you leave B*TCH.”
Tensions might be high but she has clearly nothing to do with the crash.
The protesters have no right to invade her privacy and use her as a scapegoat when she obviously had nothing to do with it. By their definition, it's like she asked daddy dearest to conquer the Crimea as a birthday present.
You sure it wasn't from dissapointment of Areal's kickstarter being suspended?
Really fucking disappointing. This is just stupid. What the fuck does the daughter has to do with her father supporting seperatists? NOTHING. Like why the fuck would you go after an innocent person who just happens to be related to someone else?
You sure it wasn't from dissapointment of Areal's kickstarter being suspended?
I don't see why. The "Putin" who supported them was a fake.
If she has been in The Netherlands for a long time and doesn't exchange info with her dad I don't see why she has to. Although I don't think it'll be safe for her to remain here.
what a great idea, if we can't harass Putin himself, lets harass his daughter what a bunch of pricks, why attacking innocent relatives

Why do you think such things as lynch mobs get formed in the event of high tension?
Holy fuck these people are stupid. Thanks for giving us a bad name fuckers. [editline]25th July 2014[/editline] Either way, looks like the Mayor apologized.
Broertjes later apologised on Twitter, saying his comments were “unwise” and stemmed from a “feeling of helplessness that many will recognise”.
I can't seem to edit op to add in the mayor bit, it just comes up blank.

It's been a thing for a while now.
If she has been in The Netherlands for a long time and doesn't exchange info with her dad I don't see why she has to.
What info can she exchange? She's not some super secret agent working for Putin. Obviously she keeps in touch with her family, but i guess it's not something criminal to do this.
what a great idea, if we can't harass Putin himself, lets harass his daughter what a bunch of pricks, why attacking innocent relatives
I certainly don't believe that two rights make a wrong, and that his daughter should be harassed, but that said 298 innocent people (not even relatives) have been murdered as part of Putin's little proxy war, and there are plenty of reports of the Russian security services using family as a way of manipulating people.

I'm disappointing in my country. I always thought we had left behind such practices for peace.
Man, if you thought threatening Liam Nelson's daughter was a bad idea.
I'm disappointing in my country. I always thought we had left behind such practices for peace.
Every country has its stupid bigots sadly :/ [editline]25th July 2014[/editline] Luckily official news channels don't waste a word on this.
I'm disappointing in my country. I always thought we had left behind such practices for peace.
It isn't your country its just a mixture of a few angry people and a few people who dislike putin.
I wonder what would Putin do if she died in a mob attack, probably try to nuke the world when suddenly he's personally invested into it.
haha Pieter Broertjes you muppet! Why did you you become mayor of my hometown again? Oh that's right because of your old boys network and not your leadership!
I'm disappointing in my country. I always thought we had left behind such practices for peace.
People never change
People don't want a war, go after Putin's daughter. Good idea. Yep
If Putin daughter is living in your town, it guarantees your town won't get nuked!
If Putin daughter is living in your town, it guarantees your town won't get nuked!
Not if the Americans nuke it
Not if the Americans nuke it
The only winning move is not to play.
I don't want to be rude, but I nowhere do I read that its Dutch people doing anything? People on twitter, "Anti-Putin" activists have called for people to harrass her. It says Ukrainians were planning on having a protest in front of her house.
Ukrainians living in the Netherlands planned a protest outside Maria’s apartment, according to De Telegraaf newspaper.
Nowhere can I see reports of Dutch citizens planning or actually doing anything? The only guy who spoke was a mayor who suggested deportation as a means of pressuring Putin? Saying something is never illegal, especially if you then apologize and explain it was said out of a feeling of hopelesness. To the Dutch people it was hardly a secret where she lived... I've read about it on Quotenet.nl many times and I don't even live close to her. There's nothing on my twitter, facebook about Maria Putin, and there is definitely noone even talking about her here? I met with about 20 CEO's today, who are kinda the social nodes here, and none of them even mentioned it, even though we have spoken about her house in the Netherlands many times before.
Family guilt is really dumb
We have a decent collection of stupid people in our country who don't have the ability to thing straight, so they pull this shit.
It's like school all over again
