I figured I might as well review both of them.
I love this movie and I saw it before Planet Terror and I still consider it as good.
Won't give away much of the plot because you should see it without knowing what it really is. Surprise yourself.
Kurt Russell is great in this movie as Stuntman Mike, and in my opinion is one of the most intelligent and interesting QT characters since Hans Landa of "Inglourious Basterds" fame.
It's slower paced than Planet Terror, so if you're watching these back to back and you've got to take a piss, now's the time to do it.
The opening act is very good and I think it's underrated due to the perfect climax.
It's a very fun movie to watch with friends, but watch this one before Planet Terror. It's simply more fun that way.
8.5/10

I love every Tarantino movie...except this. I could barely manage to watch the full movie. I know people say that the dialogue in Tarantio movies are interesting, which I agree with. But there was noting interesting in Death Proof. That's just my personal opinion though.
Good movie, bad Tarantino movie.
Watch Jackie Brown, thats a better overlooked tarantino movie.
The lapdance scene was way too long!
Rong, there's a large margin of people who are happy about that.
Planet Terror is such a fucking horrible movie, it have nothing of the Tarantino magic in it.

This.
I usually love watching the diaogue scenes in his films but in this one I was dying of boredom for the first half of the movie.

Queer

Maybe because it was directed by Robert Rodriguez. :smug:

Thank God.
Could barely sit through this movie.
Once Stuntman Mike actually starts doing things, the movie gets better.
But before that it's just a bunch of ugly washed up whores talking about their lives.
Tarantino set out with Rodriguez to make a typical "grind house" double feature. If you take into account that these movies were made to be over the top, fairly terrible, and utterly ridiculous, Tarrantino did a fucking great job.
Stop looking at these as movies, start looking at them as works of art.
Its along the same track of thought of Samuel Beckett when he wrote Waiting for Godot. It was written to be bad.
I fucking hated Death Proof the first time I saw it. Saw it again, fucking love it.
I absolutely hated the end of this movie. The entire movie tried to make out Kurt Russel as a villan but I was rooting for him the whole time. [sp] When the girls go rage mode at the end and he suddenly turns into a total pussy[/sp] I lost any and all interest in the movie.
the movie was fantastic, it was designed to be terrible
that's the point of grindhouse films
Death Proof
more like
girls talk about inane shit for hours and then there's 10 minutes of action.
I loved the movie for the cars, lap dance, crash scene, and final ten minutes.
The rest was fucking terrible, but if you block out the shitty parts and think only of the good parts, it's amazing.

My favourite movie too! I loved it mainly for the car references :D

I liked the [sp]Vanishing Point Challenger[/sp] reference at the end.

That was both unnecessary and immature, not to mention incredibly nerdy.

Same here, it's so unnecessary that's it's hilarious.
I didn't like the movie when I saw it in theaters, especially after seeing Planet Terror. Now that I can watch it by itself, I've warmed up to it.

You forgot the black Charger too ;)
It's been awhile since I see muscle cars crash like that! I loved it, specially the matte Nova :D
Planet Terror is such a fucking horrible movie, it have nothing of the Tarantino magic in it.
it's not a tarantino movie :milk: robert rodriguez directed it
anyway, planet terror and death proof reminded me of all the old movies i used to watch in VHS when i was younger and i loved them both.
Although death proof was less good than other tarantino movies, it was great, it's just a bit different.
There's also a great movie if you can't get enough of those, tarantino wrote the scenario/script but he didn't direct it himself: true romance(1993) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108399/
