Hurricane Alex was located about 490 miles southwest of Faial Island in the central Azores as of late Thursday morning. The Azores are a group of Portuguese islands located 800 to 900 miles west of Portugal's mainland.Maximum sustained winds were estimated to be 85 mph, making Alex a Category 1 hurricane. This also makes Alex the strongest January hurricane on record, surpassing the 80-mph peak of both Alice and the 1938 hurricane.
I thought this was kinda interesting since the last hurricane to form in January was in 1938. Not sure what this might mean for the UK
Oh shit, it IS our Azores!
Was surprised to see something related to Portugal in the news, thought there were more.
I'm even more glad I didn't stay as a seaman in that ship now...

This must mean that there are other Azores, are there other Azores other than yours?

I don't know! There probably are? I mean, the city I live in also exists in Brazil I think...
Obviously this is about our islands though.
