Good review, I agree with a lot of what he was saying. The 60fps was a nice touch, really noticeable compared to other console games when I played it. Also, strangely some of the cutscenes he was showing in the video I haven't seen - despite never skipping one. Edit: I'd also like to add that I thought it was cool how he explained how much of a bitch Raiden was in the other games. I played MGS1 and then none of the others in the series until Rising, and I thought Raiden was pretty cool - even if his voice changing every other line got irritating.
He should do more reviews, really informative, objective and fair and he's pretty good on bringing up good and bad points as well as highlighting some of the best parts. Reminds me a bit of Adam Sessler's recent reviews on Sessler's Something. Only thing I disagreed with was the part with Raiden on MGS2, concerning that he really is supposed to be a bit of a rookie with an awkward side since it highlights more for the player's role in a brand new scenario as well as highlighting Solid Snake's badassery.
Been a while Bo Schitt. I'll be watching this space with great interest and much anticipation indeed :D
I agreed with every part of this review. Metal Gear Rising is awesome.
I know what I'm getting as soon as I get either a PS3 or a PS4... Blade mode looks fucking awesome.

He was a decent character who fulfilled his role well as the rookie who is new to what he is doing in contrast to Snake.
This guy hates Raiden too much. Yeah he's nowhere near as cool as Snake but he's still a solid and good protagonist for MGS2. It's cool to be able to see Snake from someone elses perspective, and you're equally as talented as him anyway (since you know, you still control him and he can do the same things). The dialogue and story of 2 also isn't even nearly as bad as he says. Basically I'm saying MGS2 owns. And revengeance is cool as heck too.
The worst part of MGS2 was Rose. She was always the one bringing up their history in the middle of the mission.

The prerelease marketing made it seem like Solid Snake was going to star in the game again, and people were excited to play as him. Then it gets released and people had this new feminine rookie replace the hardened badass they were pumped to play as. Then the first hour and a half of this new character is spent in an overly drawn out string of cutscenes. You're stuck there watching Raiden being clueless until he meets pliskin. Then you watch pliskin (totally not snake) act all badass and in control until you're sent off to freeze some c4. Then later on you have to fight an immortal bisexual vampire, and then proceed to escort otacons younger sister. After a long somewhat drawn out sequence the dude you just killed kills her making your efforts null and void. You then have to hear about how Otacon almost left her to drown in their childhood because he was to busy fucking his stepmom. Then naked cartwheels, I need scissors! 61!, plot twists, plot twists to the plot twists, explanation scene cut due to 9/11, samurai showdown with the ex president, patriots, and a dreamlike ending. Also Rose.
MGS2 certainly was weird as fuck. It's funny how, even though my first time playing it was in 2009, I still didn't know I would be playing as Raiden, because I hadn't seen anything from the game before, and the back of the box said I'd be playing as Snake.
Considering this guy practically invented, or helped codify, the 'random but funny' Youtube mindset of Garry's Mod videos, it's extremely surprising to hear 'em give such concise thoughts on the game instead of being insanely crazy or hammy or something.
that's called having integrity, I suppose

Also, "wheel of explosions" caught me off guard. :v:
Is this coming out on PC? I'd kinda like to play it (though I do have a 360), like all MGS games it looks incredibly goofy and stupid but it looks like a lot of fun to play too.

Sometimes really confusing, but still.

I mean in this game look at the goofy smiles and raiden's stupid voice trying to imitate something that should be taken seriously but ending up sounding like a child impersonating edward james olmos also all the dialogue I've heard in MGS games sounds like a 10 year old was allowed to run on way too long when writing but then again I've never played one so I probably should before making a judgement [editline]3rd March 2013[/editline]
According to wikipedia, platinum games haven't made a PC game ever, so I doubt they would start now, sadly.
aw, I remember ages ago hearing about a possible PC release, shame

(Or as good as japanese to english translations can be anyway) Its a mix of seriousness and humor that works. Go play MGS3 or watch the Existence movie version (its on youtube, its from the special edition limited 3rd disc Existence, a recut movie of MGS3) Like, normally, i dont feel any emotions while playing games, but the ending of MGS3 and 4 had me feeling a pang of emotion, but just barely.
Best MGR review I've seen so far. It's also good to see a reviewer that actually paid attention to the game and learned how to block, and dodge.
Hes wrong about the dodge, you can dodge forward as well, if an attack is coming at you and you dodge towards them them, theyre attack misses and you swing at them as well.
aw, I remember ages ago hearing about a possible PC release, shame
They're thinking of doing it for anarchy reigns, not sure about this. Speaking of AR though, why didn't that game have raiden as a cameo character, it had bayonetta :C
