I'm in an extended-stay hotel and the internet is very bad - General

I'm currently downloading Super Meat Boy at [b]BLAZING FAST[/b] (quoting the hotel's advertisements) internet 60 kb/s According to the ISP the hotel uses, everyone is supposed to be getting 200 kb/s or better internet (which still isn't hot and is far worse than what I get at home, but it would be an improvement over this) The provider is Tantus Networks. I've been looking for any sort of usage cap, but apparently it's unlimited. I haven't done anything out-of-ordinary like torrent things (because that causes lots of traffic and your ISP gets mad usually), so I'm not sure what the issue is. One day, the internet was 24 mb/s, which I capitalized on and downloaded everything I needed to, then overnight it drooped back down to 60 kb/s. I E-mailed the ISP asking if this particular unit had been throttled or the QoS had been adjusted, but I didn't get a straightforward answer and they offered to troubleshoot my problem. I had already tested multiple computers on the network and they were all getting the same speed. It's wireless, and I'll be staying here for nine months. What can I do? Am I fucked?

Whine some more. Until about a month ago, I had dial-up, which downloads at a blazing 4kb/s on a GOOD day. Now we have shitty DSL where I usually download at 150kb/s but I'm not complaining. So deal with it, and go outside or something. Or just be patient, it's not the end of the world.

Who gives a fuck if it's false advertising, it's still a dumb thing to complain about I have shitty DSL and multiple people are using it usually, so when I download games I get at best 100-150 kb/s. 60 kb/s is not that bad.

I googled Tantus, they appear to be in Chicago, so I assume you are in the States right now. Get 3G, download games through that and then swap over to the hotel's network when playing games. I pay over in Finland 13€ for no speed-cap other than what 3.5G can actually achieve (done 1.4mb/s in-doors once, maintained the speed for about half an hour too) + no bandwidth usage cap (I've downloaded GTA4 like 3 times inside a month off the connection just to test how stable it is). You can probably find a similar or better deal over in the U.S.

Who cares about download as long as it is reasonable and the pings are good.
