Now the million dollar question- is he going just to visit, or are there ulterior motives?
Well the NSA did pretty much beg Snowdens dad to get him to come back
He'll go to Moscow and as soon as he's there he'll seek asylum. No reason to go back and be treated unequally when your country calls your son a traitor.

his father went on cnn and fox and all the major media outlets saying that while he agreed with his son's actions he didn't agree with his choice to flee and that he wanted him to just come home. maybe he'll convince him to come home but i think the longer snowden stays away the better his outlook will be. i mean the super-transparent obama admin is waving the same shit he did to manning at snowden and look how well it stuck on manning.
All a plot to get Snowden infected with FoxDIE.
That or the father will be bugged or something so they can figure out where Snowden is hiding and send in a team to nab him out from under Russia's nose.

I don't think he himself qualifies for political asylum. It's not like he himself is a refugee.

You have to know that, if his stance was genuine and he supports the NSA over his son, then the US would have ulterior motives and use him in some way to get to Snowden.
