• Cannabis Will Be Legalized Eventually In The USA: We Have To Think Of The Details

To me it is inevitable that there will be some sort of Federal or Statewide legalization of cannabis within the United States. But before we celebrate, we have to think of the ramifications and the conditions of such a law. This is what I think the conditions will looks like: I can imagine a combination of the cigarette laws and alcohol laws. Meaning one must be 18 in order to smoke pot, cannot do it in any public place and certain businesses, and cannot drive while under the influence of it. The sellers cannot extensively advertise it and must warn buyers of the potential health risks. There will be very high taxes. A certain blood-THC content will be set to differentiate the legally sober and legally high. The effects of the legalization of Cannabis cannot be foreseen. Suddenly, a very powerful and dangerous black market suddenly becomes legal, what will happen? I think the most savvy drug dealers will set up businesses that will overtake and outsell the lesser ones and will eventually turn into Marlboro-like almost-monopolies that will fuck with their joints until the old people (us) start ranting about how in the good old days we smoked much better shit than today. The high taxes will make little difference to the consumers because the neo-Marlboros will be able to make joints on the cheap, we will see the consumers spending less and less money on the same amount of the drug. The extra tax money combined with the lessening of the War-on-Drugs budget (unless they spend the same amount of money to concentrate on battling more serious drugs, I do not think legalizing Cannabis will ever make it easier to legalize more potent drugs) will help the government reduce its deficit. I cannot say whether more people will smoke because of the new measures or whether it will become more socially acceptable or whether more pot will be sold, just that the transition from Black Market to the Legal Market will temporarily fuck shit up for stoners. They will be so happy yet confused at the same time. The problem I see is that most people will want to start smoking before 18, meaning a lot of effort will be made not to prevent smoking pot, but to prevent underage smoking of pot (a lesser effort but still an effort). So do not think the legalization of cannabis will be so simple. If only... Also: I have never done any drugs at all ever.
woah thats deep man Just kidding. I know what you mean. I can feel already that in the not so distant future, marijuana will turn into how the tobacco industry is today. Native Americans smoked tobacco for generations with apparently minimal health effects, while modern mass-produced cigarettes are killing millions. I guess we will have to wait and see.
medical states will legalize first. OP forgot the fact cannabis can be grown in backyards p easy which is why the alcohol industry funds above the influence and that anti-drug bs. About the additives, theres enough tobacco brands that stick to the traditional methods and again cannabis can be grown in ur backyard without additives. In other words companies would have a hard time pushing their product.
Well, I'd imagine growing at home would be illegal like brewing alcoholic spirits.
then its not legalized
You know there's still people who are gonna be growing and selling on the street. The shitty dealers will eventually drop out, and the number of dealers left will be significantly reduced, but they'll always be there.
However, the fact that so many shitty dealers will have no business, the big time dealers will have to up their efforts to get good, high quality drugs otherwise people are just gonna go to a shop and buy some legally.

the government probably will sell shitty weed, yeah
the government probably will sell shitty weed, yeah
Or you don't know what you're talking about.
Other countries that legalised it allow a few Cannabis plants to be grown for personal use so as long as they keep that part, it'll be fine growing your own. Store bought weed would probably be of varying quality, just like Tobacco. There is a good chance that additives will not be a problem though. As long as someone notices what has happened with the Tobacco industry while legistaling it, they'll include strict guidelines on additives to make sure there aren't any 'flavour enhancers'. Maybe a few well labeled chemicaly treated varieties if that's your thing.
I doubt it's going to be legalized until the DEA goes through a major overhaul. Thousands of people will lose their meaningless jobs, and their definitely not going down without a fight. Greed is the main issue here.
Good thing you don't need to enhance weeds flavor :D.
