Hello there Facepunch. I come here with a message of importance. I come here in the name of one of our most appreciated members: RayvenQ. You might know RayvenQ from the thread called How one Small thing can change your life - Aka How I learned to love my Walking Stick. I suggest you read the thread before continuing to read this message. RayvenQ is an amazing, selfless person. He has always been. Reading his thread makes you feel a mixture with warmth and sadness. How he keeps that smile on his face while still suffering from crippling pain everyday. This is not a exaggeration. In the thread made by RayvenQ where he talks about his scoliosis, I made a comment:
Let's calculate what a trip would cost and all chip in.
Deciding to go through with this I set up a plan. I started to calculate what the cost would be for getting him there, staying there and getting the surgery. This wasn’t just a little trip. I contacted our dear FP nember named TerabyteS and he wanted to do more than help. He offered to set up websites, ChipIn projects, FP thread etc. This things was becoming huge. But, before I could make any sort of arrangement I needed RayvenQ’s consent. So, I decided to hit him up on Steam. I proposed my idea, trying to tell everything in as much detail as possible. Nervously awaiting his reply, I got the following message: “I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I’d rather see the money go to the American Cancer Foundation because my friend suffers from cancer. Or the homeless shelters seeing as I used to be homeless.” Needless to say, I was amazed. This man refuses life-saving surgery to help others. At this point I doubt I need to explain how selfless he really is. After talking some more with him, I still felt I needed to help RayvenQ, but respecting his wish me and TerabyteS decided to go through with it. And now, here we are. We are asking you, dear member of Facepunch, to donate money to the Rayven Foundation. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society found at http://www.cancer.org/index and the Homeless shelter. It will be a 50/50 split. Donating will be done through ChipIn. If you are willing to donate, go to the ChipIn project here: http://rayvenfoundation.chipin.com/rayven-foundation We are planning to raise about $1,000. This isn’t a necessity, just a great goal. Every penny will help. For donating you will get RayvenQ’s, TerabyteS and mine eternal thanks. I’d like to thank you all for reading this. For questions you can always ask RayvenQ, TerabyteS or me.
All thanks should go to Asgard and Terra for deciding to do this. I'm still stunned. Now, as to why I turned it down: Due to the odds of it not working at best, I decided to turn it down in favour of Cancer research and Homless shelters because 1. I've been homeless and know that a shelter getting funds can make a real difference to those that need it and secondly, a dear friend of mine has cancer, and I'd rather it go to help her, even though it may make only a small difference and on top of that, it will help cancer research and more than just me, or one person, it'll go towards every family who has to go through someone having cancer, and if i could relieve them a bit, or my friend, I'd gladly suffer through what I have. It's no choice really, relieve your own pain, or help many others even just slightly, well, to me there is only one correct decision.

If your page is in Dutch, try taking your link, it should say something around https://www.paypal.com/en/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_[more_crap_here] try making it https://www.paypal.com/nl/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_[more_crap_here] Or the other way around if it says nl.
I think this is the right thing to do, guys. There are people out there who deserve all the help they can get, and we should do it in honor of the most selfless man in the world, Rayven.
Very nice of you guys(and RayvenQ!), I'll donate if I can sometime
I'll try to get my hands on a visa spendOn card. I was planning on getting one anyway, so now I know what to use my money on. Best of luck to both of you from me.

As I said, every penny will help.
There are times in my life I really wished I had money, times I wished I could afford luxuries. But this, this is... Fuck college. I'm saving up for this now.
I love Facepunch and the inspirational people who reside in it. You, Rayven, and TerabyteS are wonderful people. I'll definitley try and contribute somethings to this.

Fantastic work guys. Oh god it isnt in English. I cant figure this out, im hopeless. Would using English Paypal to send the money to the Gmail account be fine? Edit: Now its in English, lol.

It's good to see that Rayven has inspired you to help other people. Though, i don't have a card to donate with, is there any other way i could donate to the foundation?

[editline]27th July 2011[/editline] Since ive got a new job, I might as well chip in.
I'm sad that I can't contribute, but hopefully, if people are inspired, they can make up the difference. I would if I could, but I'm living off of disability allowance, which, after all my various bills etc, leaves absoloutely nothing left for me. Also, feel free to ask me any questions about my condition, myself, how i cope and the way i think, anything really. Boredom is a big part of my life so by asking questions, you give me something to do.

You're inspiring, Rayven. Keep fighting the good fight mate.
Chip'd in a little. You guys have huge hearts.

Walk, I have to, hurts like hell to do so, but i can't really afford to have any other means of transportation.

My rule is to only spend money into education for poor countries. A friend of mine works in Ethiopia. He assures me that the money will be given to the right hand. I'm sure this is all in good thought, but I have trouble spending if I don't know who exactly will get the money. I read that it's for cancer.org, but that wasn't my point.
We've already recieved $67,00 in donations! Thank you so much everybody who donated. It seems the tracker on ChipIn isn't updating quickly.

You guys are doing the right thing.
I was checking Facepunch, about to get Dead Space on Steam, when I saw this thread. Meh, Dead Space can wait a few more weeks...you guys deserve it lots more.
I'll donate 100 bucks on Friday. I know that at the moment it's only my word, but I get this very nice payment, and I want to use some of it on someone else than myself.
Donated $5
How about we buy Rayven a segway? That way he can roll around in style without too much stress on his legs/back. EDIT just thought of this. oh wow
Even standing is stressful on my legs and back, plus theres accesibility complications and the fact that someone would probably nick it. Funny thing I just realised is that the amount set by Asgard, is the same price as it'd cost to get my friend over here on a return ticket, though that'd be just as difficult to accept as the original proposition. Besides, it's already been chosen so only right to stick with it.
