the clerk isn't getting away with it, thankfully. she has a lawsuit coming from the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky for refusing to issue a license. she's been sued before because she refused to issue licenses to ANYONE for "religious concerns". she needs to be taken out of her position if she cannot do her job properly.

most of these people believe they're doing "God's work" and are carrying out their beliefs through their job. unfortunately she's in the wrong position to be doing this as the whole country has officially legalized same-sex marriage. this hasn't registered with her yet, and maybe a lawsuit will fix her. if that doesn't, then I think it's time she is removed from her job and replaced with a clerk that actually will issue marriage licenses rather than make an issue about it.
