Armed police stormed the scene at rush hour as thousands of commuters were ordered out of both the Tube and mainline rail stations. Many tweeted photos and videos of people streaming out of the building, while a huge number of officers guarded the area.
Source
Hope they deactivate it and put it in a museum instead of blowing it up.
Talk about a major war 70 years later and it still effecting people to this date
Hope they deactivate it and put it in a museum instead of blowing it up.
Pretty much not going to happen. Detonation usually is way safer.
The article says they cancelled the security lockdown now. I wonder where exactly they found the bomb?
So weird to think that a bomb has just been sitting there for 70 years with people walking right past unaware
Ha, they missed me. I was on the Circle line all along!
Screw ISIS, we're still bombing ourselves [editline]5th February 2016[/editline] Makes you wonder how many of those are still out there. All I know is that some forests and plains around here are littered with WWII equipment, helmets, weapon parts and remains, buried under the dirt.

WWIII: Hitler's revenge, in theaters soon
Hope they deactivate it and put it in a museum instead of blowing it up.
It isn't that easy. A lot of times the explosives inside after so many years become unstable, and could detonate without much provocation. Generally the bombs were also designed to be tamperproof. So unless there's no other alternative they usually just blow them up in place.
WWIII: Hitler's revenge, in theaters soon
It's an eternal reminder of how German engineering isn't perfect, which should infuriate modern German engineers. It should have gone off like it was sternly told to, instead it failed
I wonder why they made such a huge deal about it, sparking a mass evacuation and storming the scene when it's already been sitting there undetonated for 70 years... You'd think they would rather keep it on the down-low since it's relatively low-risk until they start removing/disarming it. Heh, but it's kind of cool to think I've been that close to an unexploded bomb without knowing it.

Germany has a lot of those unexploded bombs. Every year they find up to 5.000 unexploded ordnance here and the estimated amount of unexplored bombs goes up to 100.000.
WWIII: Hitler's revenge, in theaters soon
NAZI CYBORGS

Sadly, Europe's not the only place that has this problem either, I believe there are still signs up warning hikers of land mines / traps in Vietnam forests. kinda makes me wish there was more of an effort to track and remove these things before they kill people.
Talk about a major war 70 years later and it still effecting people to this date
Don't forget the major war 106 years ago and old mines can be found in farm fields.
Don't forget the major war 106 years ago and old mines can be found in farm fields.
Mines that randomly explode too due to the explosives becoming highly unstable. Imagine that, you hear a whump and look outside to see half your sheep cut down. Sacrebleu!

Yeah, its a pretty common thing if you live near the WWII battlefields. My friend literally pulled out a Mosin from the swamp not too long ago.
Clean that beast up and see if it still works. Use a lanyard to pull that trigger though. Safety first!
Unfortunately it rusted to hell. Also russian gun laws does not allow owning a rifle with rifled barrels unless you've had a hunting license for at least 5 years.
I would say that's what WD40 is for but I suppose it's a moot point because of your laws.
No fun allowed. But seriously, even WD40 cant repair a barrel that was rusted through. But in the funniest thing is that he [SP] traded this mosin for SVT-40 that he's going to restore.[/SP]

David Cameron should go the the Reichstag, dump it on Merkel's desk and say "I believe this is yours?"
but where did they find it and how have people not seen or noticed it in the past 70 years. it boggles my mind i must know more
David Cameron should go the the Reichstag, dump it on Merkel's desk and say "I believe this is yours?"
If we'd do the same the you wouldn't be able to find London anymore

Maybe some sort of declaration that allows the exchange of these explosives between the countries? I feel like transporting them in planes might make things easy.
