Allahu Akbar: Washington Student Bombs His Prom Proposal
20 replies, posted
he teen who donned a fake bomb vest to issue a prom proposal and received a five-day suspension for his actions told ABC News that he stood by his idea and believes the school’s punishment was unfair. Ibrahim Ahmad, 18, of La Center, Washington, pulled the stunt Tuesday during lunch at La Center High School. It was witnessed by the principal and disciplinary action followed swiftly after, but Ahmad said his peers didn’t have a problem with the idea. “The people that were in the cafeteria understood what was going on. ... I had a friend help me make the posters. Teachers even saw me make the posters,” he told ABC News today. Ahmad said he created the simulated device from a paint ball jacket and red tubes. Along with the vest he carried a sign that read: “I kno it’s a little late, but I’m kinda the bomb, Rilea will u be my date to prom?”
... :v:
Did she say yes?
Fake bomb vest for egotystical cheesy pun...
Doesn't exactly seem worth it but thank Christ the schools didn't over-react and expell him. If the US school system is a bit crazy normally, the time around the end of the year they kick it into overdrive and go ful batshit insane on punishment.

He did, but he's suspended past the date of the prom :v:

Way to live up to stereotypes :v:
Radical.
Five days seems fair. Even if it was an obvious joke, it's one that's totally inappropriate for a school setting (or any setting), and he really should have known better than that.

Is it fair to make a kid miss prom and not be able to go with his prom date who actually said yes?
No, it isn't.
If he was white nobody would have cared.
I don't really see the point in punishing someone over a joke like this.

It kind of is. School hosts the prom, and they can take away that privilege to attend if they see fit. Doing something that's grounds for suspension is definitely grounds for losing prom privileges.
I believe he should have been punished
although I wouldn't have kept him from prom

What about that is worthy of punishment? I asked myself that question and couldn't find any real harm in his action. Just a simple poor taste joke. I can see why he was punished (school massacre hysteria and zero-tolerance policies), but I don't think anything outside a lecture from his dean and maybe a detention would be required.
He should have told the teachers what he'd be doing.

i don't think he's missing the prom, usually those are in the beginning/middle of may, this is just a week off, and really this time of the year he's probably not got any tests anyways
If he was white nobody would have cared.
Nope, still would've gotten suspended. Schools dont mess around when it comes to bombs so stop trying to make everything about race

His suspension lasts through the prom, which means he can't go
