Oh wow, seeing that "what a cartoon" intro brought tons of memories back.
Oh wow, seeing that "what a cartoon" intro brought tons of memories back.
And the ending credits, with the Hanna-Barbera outro! I was 12 years old in '96. I swear it feels like I watched this "a couple years ago", not *that* long ago! Getting older fucks up with your brain, man. [editline]10th December 2014[/editline] I'm 30, btw. :v:
For being a pilot episode it is really creepy :v: Although I'll never forget the floating basement head, eek.

Oh wow I didn't even know this was the pilot for the show.
Oh wow I didn't even know this was the pilot for the show.
now you do. what an exciting day
so very crude for even a pilot by today's standards, but then again i wouldn't doubt that was months of someone's life to create
Muriel skipped leg day
Wow, totally forgot about what a cartoon but that theme song is burned in my head. I think I only ever since this once maybe twice and always wonder why I never saw it air again and I had remember the whole episode for this long. That's how you know you got a good show. There was one other ep of Courage that never really played that much either and its a shame cause it was one my favorites. It was the one with the zombie movie director. Its also cool that they later brought back the space chicken in later episode.

Courage is downright disturbing, and looking back I'm surprised it was ever on CN It was fucking awesome though
Fuck I miss this show. Absolutely terrifying as a child, but it even had proper character development, such as the reason why Eustace was the way he was.
Seriously one of my favorite shows ever, if not my single favorite shows. Can't believe it's been so long.
Courage is downright disturbing, and looking back I'm surprised it was ever on CN It was fucking awesome though
A lot of the truly creepy shit was only left hanging or implied to avoid the censors, like Katz inviting people into his hotel so his pet spiders could devour them, or the episode with the cat that hated men because some dogs kidnapped her bunny friend with a whole lot of unsettling implications involved (and even ended with the head of the gang driving straight into an oncoming train). Others had downright unnerving elements that are depressing but not so bad in comparison, like the episode where Courage lost his parents to the insane vet launching them onto the moon and Muriel adopts him afterwards; the vet got his karma when he was sent up to the moon by Courage to get the shit beat out of him by all the dogs he sent up there. If his parents actually died, they probably wouldn't of been able to air it. And then there's just the.. surreal episodes that are either creepy or just plain strange.
Courage was a seriously messed up show. And that's why it was one of the best. Seriously, all the shows with hugely dark undertones were some of the best cartoon I've ever seen. What about that CGI reboot? I remember they had a teaser for it some odd months ago, they got the fucking dinosaur from Toy Story to voice (Eustese? It's been a while.)

The King Ramses episode has been, and always will be, my all time favorite episode in any cartoon ever. I can't understand why it scares everyone.

Now I'm sad. I remember watching this everyday with my grandma, It was her favorite show. I want it to be back so badly, but if they reboot it it'll probably be mediocre like the other ones.
My dad actually has this pilot episode recorded on VHS. He saw me and my sisters watching it one time when it was new and he really liked it. I don't think he even knew that Courage became a full series; he just liked this episode. He also has the Old Man Dexter episode of Dexter's Lab on the same tape. Old people jokes were his favorite thing.
let's not forget the saddest episode ever seriously this shit made me cry like a baby when i was younger (still gets me real close nowadays)
