Coca-Cola will adopt government recommendations and introduce traffic light nutrition labels on the front of its cans and bottles.
It had previously rejected the plans.

It basically just means it will show sugar in red as high
i drink 6 cans of coke a day and i'm fine. why does the government keep trying to control the way we live? i believe ayn rand was right when she said 'the truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.'
That does looks kinda shitty and obtrusive. I can see why Coke didn't want to put them on.

They were already on, they were just all grey and not colour coded

I've been drinking roughly 1.5 liters of coke a day (one big bottle) for the last 3-4 years. I don't have any health problems and my teeth are fine. I had two different dentists during this period and neither of them noticed I drank a lot of softdrinks and when I asked them if it was visible they said it was incredible it didn't damage my teeth.
My 2nd dentist, however, said that it has to do with some teeth being more resistant than others, but they don't usually tell this to kids because that makes them think they can do everything and not care about their teeth. Not forgetting to mention that I only brush my teeth twice a day and forget to brush my teeth at night occasionally because I fall asleep before I get the chance to, right after having a cup of tea with 3 sugarcubes.
im glad that more and more companies are doing this in america when there is no law requiring this over here

Oh. Well even still, at least grey matched the color scheme of the can. Although that would probably defeat the purpose of having easily visible nutritional facts.

Grey matches the color scheme of a RED can? How does green and red and yellow match a RED colorscheme even less than grey?
I find this fine. It's just a better way to understand what you are going to consume if a easier fashion. I drink coke and i don't mind this any bit.

at least the red next to sugar matches
This won't change a thing. It is not like people don't know that Coca Cola has high amounts of calories. Same with fast food from McD or Burger King. Everybody knows that cigarettes are unhealthy and there are still people who smoke.

That's lucky, my teeth are pretty strong too and coke doesn't affect them much, but it generally makes me feel like crap if I drink more than one can. Pepsi even more so, for some reason. I can't understand people who drink huge amounts of it, it must slow you down so much

I don't think that's the point of it, it's just to have a better level of transparency in what you're eating (or in this case drinking). Nutritional information is a lot easier to access in this format.
I couldn't care less whether it looks ugly on the colour scheme, frankly. If the traffic light system helps educate people about their diet, that's more important than "oh no green on red".

they're not controlling your life by putting nutrition information on soft drinks

i think it's satire
I've been a binge come drinker for 60 years and you people are telling me for the first time that there's sugar in it? That red light stopped me dead in my tracks

lol
I enjoy the odd coke, but I don't think I've ever in my entire life polished off a 2 liter bottle in a single day, I mean fuck.

I've done it a couple times. You feel like shit afterwards from the carbonation.

Actually, Coke does the opposite. I once stopped drinking coke entirely. I went from 1.5l a day to nothing, and kept it like that for a few months. I don't drink coffee or anything so I became really tired and didn't have power to stay awake in class. After a month of trying to "stay clean" I decided I need the caffeine to stay awake. Since then I just drink it when I feel like it, don't really know in how much amounts.
I don't see why coke would object... its common knowledge that coke is unhealthy and full of sugar.

that's because you started to depend so much on it for energy, that's really not good for you, or normal at all.
you may think you're fine now but if you keep it up it'll really fuck you up in the long run badly, particularly on the subject of diabetes, which, type 2, you might not even see coming before it's too late. "I don't have any health problems" is a silly thing to say. No one should be having that much sugar in one day, let alone 3.
If you don't stop, before you know it you'll lose 30 pounds in 3 weeks and start waking up with your arm completely numb.

Caffeine withdrawal can take a while to get over, you should have kept it up. Although there's not much caffeine in coke so it was probably the sugar withdrawal
soda is fucking gross. i don't understand how you guys can drink so much of it
soda is fucking gross. i don't understand how you guys can drink so much of it
when you don't drink it for so long (like I have, and you as well it seems) the amount of sugar feels icky as hell. I try to indulge but it can be hard.
people who drink it every now and then to hourly won't notice it as much. But when you haven't had one in months it makes you feel like shit, same goes for fast food.

Because water is almost tasteless. I guess it's better that way since one has to drink a lot of it but sometimes one just wants to have some taste and that tingling sensation you get from soda feels nice.

Carbonated water is pretty decent, specially when naturally flavored..

Drinks other than water and soda exist, you know.

One of my favorite non-alcoholic tipples is sparkling water and lemon juice, I just love the sourness. I use the lemon juice in it to hydrate if i'm doing something intensive sometimes, it encourages me to drink more water.

Cordial + sparking water

Well either way, I was not able to stay awake and I wasn't able to wake up in the morning until I drank a can of coke at school. So it was pretty much impossible to stay off coke without falling asleep.
