Four countries — Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia — each will receive a company of paratroopers from the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based in Vicenza, Italy, said Pentagon spokesman Rear. Adm. John Kirby. “Since Russian aggression in Ukraine, we have been constantly looking for ways to reassure our allies and partners … of our commitment to Article 5,” Kirby said, referring to the key element of the NATO alliance treaty that states an attack on one of the 28 member countries will be considered an attack on all. The deployment of ground troops is part of bilateral agreements with the four countries and is separate from the broader effort of the NATO alliance to step up military readiness across its vast eastern border.
Quick info about the 173rd Infantry Fought in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan (See Restrepo) One of the very few airborne units that have performed a combat jump. Well it seems that they're sending a particular badass group of soldiers. That's good!
Hey, one of my buddies is in the 173rd. I'll ask him how this goes when it is over. Multinational training exercises are very cool, and interacting with military personnel from other nations is always a great learning experience for both parties.
How about sending 600.000 troops to the baltic countries, that would send a message to Russia ;)

Wouldn't make sense to send that many troops and gather them in military bases of that country.
