The military often helps out with medical transport of pasients and such. And it was with the stroke of luck that the F16 was already outfitted with a small cargohold-thingey, so the much needed part of a heart and lung-machine could be transported so quickly.
Amazing, simply amazing.
This terminally ill heart patient got picked up by the least likely transport ever!!!!
thats pretty cool, probably among the most expensive part to ever be delivered
thats pretty cool, probably among the most expensive part to ever be delivered
And it was a good thing that they didn't think of how much it would've cost to transport it. I mean, it will probably be discussed afterwards but i really like that it wasn't mentioned in the article at all.
thats pretty cool, probably among the most expensive part to ever be delivered
In the future, it could likely be human brains, do remember we are improving so much with medical science the progress is insane. we already have electronic nerve cells IIRC. Huma head transplants a theoretically possible but hasn't been conducted IIRC. We have already experimented with artificial circulatory systems which makes it perfectly possible in the near future that jets like the F16 or even a drone of proper size and fitting equipment could produce the necessary power to drive the vital systems of a machinized human while simultaneously powering engines enough for uplift. It's pretty amazing. Imagine that, being transported like that, imagine the interfacing possibilities with this technology. It is amazing how much we put into medicine and the logistics around it.
Huma head transplants a theoretically possible but hasn't been conducted IIRC.
Didn't the Soviets try to do a dog head transplant and it died? :tried:
Didn't the Soviets try to do a dog head transplant and it died? :tried:
yeah but wasnt that in like the 60s?
It's nice to see the Military Industrial Complex doing something good for a change.
Mach 2 Special Delivery
It's nice to see the Military Industrial Complex doing something good for a change.
But this wasn't the military industrial complex. It was the military. Which is separate from the military industrial complex. Norway doesn't even really have a military industrial complex to any degree that matters. But you probably didn't even read the article enough to see that it was even in Norway.
Interesting use of a RNoAF F-16.. I wonder why other air forces don't do this more often.
Shit, mine only goes up to f12
Imagine if they had to pay for the fuel costs. [editline]22nd April 2016[/editline] and then had a heart attack, and died

1200 kilometers in 25 minutes, the article says. That's ridiculously fast.
1200 kilometers in 25 minutes, the article says. That's ridiculously fast.
Speed(Km/H)=Distance(Km)/Time(H) 1200/0,417(25 minutes converted and rounded up to hours) that's 2877 Km/H and that's fucking fast
Speed(Km/H)=Distance(Km)/Time(H) 1200/0,417(25 minutes converted and rounded up to hours) that's 2877 Km/H and that's fucking fast
It's in fact higher than the top speed of the F16. He really stepped on it, I guess :v:
obviously he took a shortcut
It's in fact higher than the top speed of the F16. He really stepped on it, I guess :v:
Yeah, that's 800m/s. The F16 has a max rated speed of mach 2 at altitude clean. Even with emergency war thrust I doubt it could find another 150m/s. [editline]22nd April 2016[/editline] The ABC is saying the distance was 450km not 1200km. 450/0.417= 1097km/hr or 299m/s. If you include take off and landing the number makes far more sense.
Reminds me of how some police units have supercars, not to chase speeders down the highway but to send vital things like hearts and shit that can't last long in transport.
Didn't the Soviets try to do a dog head transplant and it died? :tried:
There is also a Russian guy who convinced an Italian perform the operation. I think they are gonna perform it next year, IIRC [editline]22nd April 2016[/editline]
Speed(Km/H)=Distance(Km)/Time(H) 1200/0,417(25 minutes converted and rounded up to hours) that's 2877 Km/H and that's fucking fast
Thats an impossible speed for f16. Something is not right.
Thats an impossible speed for f16. The part was flown from the hospital via helicopter to the Ørland airport where the F16 was on standy by for. And that's around 1.000 km from Bodø.
Would have been extremely dope if it was an actual heart, but hey I certainly can't complain about this really.

That's fucking awesome.
"Yes we flew the part in on our $14-18 million special transport." This is awesome.
