The trends of declining unemployment, coupled with healthy gains in the stock market, began during Obama’s first term, a welcome uptick following the global economic downturn Obama inherited in 2009. The Trump administration has built on those gains, particularly in recent months. Business confidence has soared on the expectation of sweeping tax cuts as well as the administration’s push to roll back regulations on everything from energy to housing to health care to labor rules. But hard economic data on growth, job creation and wages look very similar to the last several years under Obama. The pace of job growth actually slowed slightly to 174,000 per month in 2017 through November, compared with 187,000 per month in Obama’s final year. Even Trump’s stock market performance is similar to or trails Obama’s. In the first 11 months of Obama’s presidency, the Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 37 percent. It rose 18 percent under Trump. The Dow rose 30 percent in Obama’s first 11 months to Trump’s 24 percent.
At this point everyone either can't stand trump or adores him, so I don't really see the point. I guess to rile up his base and make them feel they made the right choice?
Pretty optimistic to think these gains will even continue past 2018 given the historic level of inequality coupled with Trump’s trickle-down on steroids. They might want to start working on a Plan B. People really need to understand that what’s good for big business isn’t necessarily good for them — in fact it’s usually the opposite.
awesome, more money to spend on not running the country or making people's lives better. sometimes i wonder what exactly the Republican party would say the economy even exists for
TBH in retrospect Obama wasn't that great a president
It's the American dream honestly. Old white men taking the credit off the work done by a minority.
TBH in retrospect Obama wasn't that great a president
Yet he's leagues above Trump.
Yet he's leagues above Trump.
That's not exactly a challenge.
That's not exactly a challenge.
In this rapidly-worsening shithole we take any victory we can get
TBH in retrospect Obama wasn't that great a president
Obama pissed a lot of people off, but personally made enemies of the older generations and Republicans. He wasn't a good president, but he did earnestly tackle things his way at least. I can't really say the same for Trump, who's basically a GOP/Republican puppet stuffing his ass with the reputation boost that being the president gets him.
TBH in retrospect Obama wasn't that great a president
Compared to what came before and after him, he was a pretty good president.
