never fly directly over people with a quadcopter, (the exception is not broad), you can lose control of your UAV at any time.
The old guy in the second video says that they'll never use drones ever again. Oh that mentality.
That guy was lucky not to get hit. How do you lose control of your drone that it would crash so violently like that?

There are endless ways to loose a quad/whatever copter. Brown outs, battery fail, mechanical fail, transmitter error (however that should trigger return to home if set up properly) and so on. Just like any electronics can fail. You don't have much redundancy on a 'drone'
failed assassination by drone attempt
Probably failsafe gone wrong

or it was taken over by Iran.

Yeah, that's one solution, OR, You could just not fly them directly over the damn course. Jesus
You wouldn't ban train spotting because some idiot stood on the tracks and got hit once

It didn't look like it was coming down sideways, just looks like it dropped like a sack of bricks. My guess would be that the pilot hit some scaffolding for the lighting or something and it just broke one of the props. As soon as one of the props fails, that's it. It can't limp around on 3
Only other way would be battery failure. It looks like a DJI Inspire and the first production run had issues where the batteries wouldn't click in properly sometimes. Even for such an exceptional case, there were failsafes that detected the battery wasn't seated properly and landed safely before the battery actually fell out, so I'd be surprised if this was the case here given the catastrophic crash. If it WAS the battery, it might be because of the cold weather
