I made a thread about a headcrab figure I made while back and decided I'd try something new. The headcrab was the first time I ever tried making out of modelling clay and I thought it came out pretty well. I wanted to try something a bit more complicated this time and made a vortigaunt. It was too much of a pain working around his flimsy arms and legs, so I couldn't really put too much detail into him...but I'm still pretty happy with how he came out. wtb vortigaunt model, offerring soul
wow thats actually pretty good
Thanks, it's only my second try doing anything like this!
wtb vortigaunt model, offerring soul
My fiance suggested that I sell him...didn't really think anyone would want him! A soul sounds like a pretty good offer, though. :v:
Neat!
These are really cool. You should design your own from scratch and try to sell them! I bet you could make quite a bit of money on the side if you just churned out new designs and sold them for ~£10-£20, if you practised just a little more.
Instantly recognizable - in short, brilliant!
just out of interest, is it air-drying modelling clay?
That's awesome! I'd really want one of those. :v:
Thanks guys.
These are really cool. You should design your own from scratch and try to sell them! Would be a good idea, though...
just out of interest, is it air-drying modelling clay?
Nope, it's Super Sculpey clay that you put in the oven. I'd pretty much be out of luck if it was air-drying clay, because I took like two months to finish him. :v:

Resisting the urge to buy some modelling clay... I know it will just end up being like every other art material I buy and get used only once, if that. But stilll... the urge! D:
You should totally make some money out of your awesome skills.
Hey, if I knew people would buy stuff like this, I'd probably make more! But after I'm done making something I always think to myself, "yeah, I'm pretty happy with it, but no one would BUY that..."
Resisting the urge to buy some modelling clay... A year ago I had this urge to make a little keychain out of clay as a present, and the the box of clay just sat around for months after that...never thought I'd use it again, but then I started playing around with again and started making these guys.
Every time I work with clay it ends up looking like a turd. really good work OP.
This is amazing! I've tried sculpting air dried clay and I suck at it, so I have great respect for what you've done here! The paint job also looks nice it gives a nice impression that it's the vortigaunt skin texture.
Every time I work with clay it ends up looking like a turd. really good work OP.
It can be a pain, but it just takes some patience to keep working on it until it looks right. Thanks!
This is amazing! I've tried sculpting air dried clay and I suck at it, so I have great respect for what you've done here! I'm lazy with art-related stuff and can take forever to finish one project, so that would definitely not be for me. And thanks a lot! I'm a complete beginner to painting, so I'm glad to hear it didn't turn out too bad. :D
No inspiration? No problem Read an entire creepypasta megathread and then the next day, sculpt your nightmares. :v:
You said in your headcrap thread that it would be a pain to make multiple figures to sell - why not cast them? That being said, Valve might get grumpy regarding copyright. Look into it before you try to make money off of this sort of thing
It'd be cool if somehow you could've replaced his eyes with jewel like things, but I doubt you could :v: Really neat, regardless!

Look into it before you try to make money off of this sort of thing
I actually bought all of the stuff I need to make a mold out of the headcrab to try to make more, but it wasn't until afterwards that I realized I wouldn't be able to because of the way he's shaped. Same with the vortigaunt. If I were to make several with a mold, then I'd be a bit worried about Valve and copyright issues, but if it's only one, I doubt I'd have that much to worry about.
It'd be cool if somehow you could've replaced his eyes with jewel like things, but I doubt you could :v: Really neat, regardless!
That would definitely be cool, but the problem is finding something the perfect size that won't melt in the oven. And thanks! :D

I'd buy these if you were to sell them.

Wow your really talented at this, You should think of making more you could earn a bit of money
Damn, you're pretty good, that looks awesome
You did mention something about a fiance earlier, right? The ring can have a diamond some other year.
Ahaha, I guess I could! Not sure how much he'd appreciate that, though. :v:
I'd buy these if you were to sell them.
Really? I've been toying with selling them, but I'm not sure how much I'd get and if it'd be worth it or not. A lot of work went into them and I don't want to let them go for too cheap, but I don't want to ask for too much, either...so I was thinking eBay might be the way to go. I'd still consider selling them to someone here if I got a good offer, though.
Wow your really talented at this, You should think of making more you could earn a bit of money
Thanks! I'm working on something new now and definitely plan on making even more. I'm really enjoying it, and if I could make a few bucks off of it, all the better!
Very nice

It might suit your work better. As for pay, just don't go do something like the valve store where the prices (for shipping) are unreal.

I actually thought about putting them up on Etsy, but I was kinda leaning toward eBay because I wanted to let people bid on them. I still dunno yet, I was going to wait until I have a few more made before I started selling them, anyway.
