Today the first "golden" version of "Battlefield 2142 Revive", as the project is called, is released. The developers claim that the interest has been big, with over 1000 players having tried it on their test servers over the past couple of weekends.
DICE themselves have commented on the matter, saying that they regard 2142 as abandonware, and that they have nothing against the game being re-worked and re-released for free. They also claim that they wanted the original servers to stay up, trying to convince EA that they could do it using their own resources, but were ignored.

I love this game.
Fuck yes Titan Mode.
I remember liking this game but I could never fully enjoy it because my computer sucked ass and everything had stretched textures across the map and geometric holes in them. That and EA had its dumb little registration thing. I never was able to do Titan game modes either...
I'd love to see this remade with modern engines and a story mode.

I loved the fuck out of this game. The mech designs are so 'believable' and not over the top and the sound they make whilst walking.. just everything about these games.
Mostly the believable mechs though.

I can imagine them making an updated Hanger 21 map where you fight to deploy your carrier before the enemy.

This game was one of my most favorite shooters, probably the one I played the most after I was done with halo combat evolved.
I used to play support all the time because I couldn't aim, I would totally start playing this game again.
2142 is probably the best battlefield game ever made, at the very least titan mode is the best BF game mode out of any BF game.
Hm, the lag compensation back then wasn't so great. The lowest ping I can get to a server with people in it is about 220, and that's enough to cause all sorts of rubber banding and odd hit detection.

Fucking EA, even when offered with keeping the servers running at no cost for them they still didn't care.

I CAN FINALLY PLAY THE TITAN MODE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, SINCE 2006 AAAAAAAAAA (I only played the demo for fucks sake)

The mechs in BF2142, just goddamn. Everything about BF2142, outside of maybe the Titans, is somewhat believable in my eyes. Even the Ice Age which is gripping the world.

i've experienced a problem with Battlefield 2, one that prevented it from running properly on a Windows 7 64-bit machine i had. after a while of gameplay it would CTD without any error messages. looking into the problem i saw people suggesting that it has something to do with the 64-bit system, that the game is somehow incompatible with it.
and ever since i ran into this issue i've wondered if 2142 has it too, mainly because they're on the same engine. can anyone confirm? i'd love to play this thing again after so long
Problem is even though Dice are fine with it I have a feeling EA are going to be like typical publishers and do a dick move, who knows.

So far on windows 10 64bit, i can play BF2 and BF2142 using there launcher.

I'm on windows 10 64bit and it seems to run fine for me.

Titan Mode is still some of the coolest shit I have ever done in a game. Escaping an enemy Titan seconds before it exploded was so damn awesome.
Just FYI there was already a project dedicated to keeping 2142 alive.
These are the same guys behind battlelog.co apparently, so I assume it'll be a lot more successful
