A Tennessee mother is appealing a court's decision after a judge ordered her son's name be changed from "Messiah."
Jaleesa Martin and the father of Messiah could not agree on a last name, which is how they ended up at a child support hearing in Cocke County Chancery Court on Thursday.
That is when the first name came into question.
Because Tennessee.
Well, Jesus is a common name, I don't get it.
Reminds me of the adorable Swedish child Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116.

Now there's a name I'd have problems with saying several times fast.

Fixed.
He's a very naughty boy.

Oh god, I believe I live within 30 minutes of the place this happened.

heck, just google it. it's all over.
so they can't name him messiah
but they can name him jesus or mohammed because it is "not relevant"
Great. First we're not allowed to euthanise our children anymore when they misbehave, now we can't even name them?
I think you're missing the best part: why.
Martin's two older children are named Micah and Mason. She liked how the name Messiah sounded alongside the other two siblings and thought it was unique.
It's like she doesn't know what it means.
Name him Messjah. Fuck the system!

Albin's a cool guy.
this is dumb, Messiah is a fine name
this is dumb, Messiah is a fine name
I thought it was dumb because the judge changed it for no other reason than her religious beliefs, at least according to the source.
Reminds me of the adorable Swedish child Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116.
That's the sign of parents who hate their child, for sure.
Kids are named Isaiah. Kids are named Jesus. There are kids named Mohammed. There's kids in India named Adidas, Nike and Coke. WHO CARES, ITS A NAME. I'm a Christian and I wouldn't be offended at all by someone names Messiah. I can't believe how ignorant that judge is, "land of the free" ? People should be able to name their kids whatever they want.

It's really bad when this comes to my mind quicker than the actual religious significance.

Jesus Christ

Sounds like its equal to "Dovahkiin" or "Hashtag"
I wonder if they know it literally means 'the greasy'.
I really wonder if at some point in modern society a man called Adam and a woman called Eve got married and had children and decided to call them Cain and Abel. That would be kickass.
