The Boondock Saints is a 1999 crime thriller film written and directed by Troy Duffy. The film stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus as Catholic Irish American fraternal twins, Connor and Murphy MacManus, who become vigilantes after killing two members of the Russian Mafia in self-defense. After a "message from God", the brothers, together with their friend David Della Rocco, set out to rid their home city of Boston, Massachusetts of crime and evil; all the while being pursued by FBI Special Agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe).

Irish brothers Connor & Murphy McManus live and work in Boston. Feeling that God's will to rid Earth from all human Evil was given to them as a mission, they set out to do their divine deed. A public outcry is never heard, and even FBI agent Paul Smecker, who follows their trace of bloodshed, admits that the boys are doing exactly what he secretly always has wished to happen. Risking their lives for their beliefs of Veritas (truth) and Aequitas (justice), the Boondock Saints are hyped by the public, for they are doing good, which only few dare to admit.
Duffy indicates that the screenplay was inspired by personal experience, while living in Los Angeles. The film experienced a limited theatrical release of only five theaters for one week, and was met with poor critical reviews; but the film has grossed about $50 million in domestic video sales. It proved divisive among viewers, ultimately developing both a large cult following as well as enmity from viewers and critics who have called it a film undeserving of cult status. The ending credit sequence, which features the media asking the people of Boston, "Are the 'saints' good or evil?", was shot by Mark Brian Smith, co-director of Overnight, a documentary film about the making of The Boondock Saints, and Troy Duffy himself.
Personally, this is one of my favorite films of all time. The film was screened two weeks after the Columbine killings, which in turn, causing the bad reviews and the short screening time.
This is the last scene, and what a great scene it was.
****Spoiler Warning****

Ive lived life by this film since 1999
I only recently saw this for the first time. Instantly I had fallen in love with it. I have yet to see the second one though.
Easily one of my favorite movies ever, second one was great but not as good as the first one :/
I did get a "fuck yeah" feeling in the end of the sequel tho [SP]They're gonna go Rorschach on the inmates asses, and Smecker is alive ;oooooo[/SP]
saw it for the first time recently
loved it
Amazing. Me and my dad, both of us are Irish Catholics, can recite half of the movie by heart. The detective (forget the actor's name) was a genius character. Ironically, my name is Connor too :P it made me feel so special to have the same name as Connor McManus

Duffy stated that if Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day did well, he would give the green light to make a third. However it is still to early to tell. If is is made, I will be there on the first day it is screened.
FUCK I love this movie.
This movie is great, although it has some of the worst Irish stereotype's I have seen. It actually adds to the film, fucking genius.
I loved this movie. The second one was good two but I thought it was a bit lacking compared to the first. I like the Mexican guy though
I watched it and I loved it.
Such a goddamn good movie. I haven't seen the sequel and I don't plan on seeing it.

I am glad they put him in during the dream sequence, hopefully they will do it again if they make a third. They always kill off the best characters in the boondock saints franchise.[sp]first Rocco, then GreenBeans and then the father[/sp] Bah.

Ah, edited. Sorry about that.
how can you forget Willem Dafoe?!?!
I cant believe it either! I forgot his name! He is by far one of the best actors I have seen in a long time. He rocked in this movie. Greatest scenes ever:

Haha :) I love how that
Romeo, the mexican from the second one, [sp]reportedly didnt die. If you notice when swat is swarming the house at the end a guy puts his hand up. The father wasnt wearing gloves.[/sp] So it has to be him.
Also I was like "NOOOOOOOO!!!! ROCCO!!!" [sp]When he died.[/sp] :saddowns:
But the dream sequence is the most inspirational thing I have ever heard from a movie lol. Both of them are some of my favorite movies. BTW if you havnt seen the second, give it a try.
I got turned on when I saw that faggot cuddling with Willem Dafoe, I wish I was cuddling with Willem Dafoe and not him, i enjoy commas also fuck cats rocco had the right idea to blow donna's cat away fucking cunt was always drugged out so it's like why would she care and then janey the fat bitch has to put in her two fucking cents but no gives a fuck since she's a fucking whore who fucks everyone anyways fuck this really grinds my god damned gears.

I hope they make it. The last one ended in a major cliff hanger. At first I thought it was going to be a dumbass sequel but it turned out to be a very good sequel.
