I don't know if they have 7/11's in Europe, or any other countries for that matter; but what I do know is that 10 days from this post is what many regard as a true American Holiday.
Free Slurpee Day.
7/11 started as a business on July 11th, 1896, with a man selling crushed ice to each and every individual who happened to make a pass by on the Oregon Trail. Many customers regarded the ice as "flavorless" and "preposterous," as refrigeration technology had not been invented yet. But the owner, Sir Sevin of the Eleventh Regiment, a Union Civil War Hero, pushed on, and took heed of his customers' comments.
One year from the day he started his journey into roadside bartering he began flavoring his Crushed Ice with common drinks such as Hard Liquor, Horse Piss, and Gunpowder. That was the year a new age began. With Sevin's massive success in the late 19th Century, he made sure his sons and daughters continued the legacy up to the day he died. That day was July 11th, 1915. This tragic irony is what gave his ancestors the strength to push on and make his dream of a commercially owned corner drug/general store a reality.
So it is on this day we celebrate not only the creation of one of the tastiest, brain-freeziest, horse-pissiest drinks ever made by mankind; but also the legend of a man once the laughing stock of the world. And that day, is Free Slurpee Day.
tl;dr: I bullshit about something because you can get free stuff and it's nice to have a memorable story along with it. Now read the fucking thread you Attention Deficit inflicted hooligan.
