Some Twitter users saw “Rape Melania” in their trending-topics boxes Sunday after images of a protester holding a sign bearing the phrase during a Saturday-night demonstration in the District circulated on the social network.
Photos of the chilling banner, taken at an anti-Trump rally outside the president-elect's new hotel in the nation's capital, drew strong condemnations from Trump supporters and opponents alike. The online conversation — almost all of it about the sign's inappropriateness — placed “Rape Melania” on a list of trending topics for some, but not all, Twitter users. Twitter customizes trending topics based on who users follow and where they are located.

Great job, guys. Keep on fanning the flames and throwing ammunition for his next future reelection. He's not lifting a finger and you're basically giving it away on a silver platter.:goodjob:
Not to pull the reverse of the status quo but who wants to bet that some of these protesters are paid off
Not to pull the reverse of the status quo but who wants to bet that some of these protesters are paid off
I'd bet my shitty underpaid salary that a minority of them are all paid off. The rest are just lemmings, following their lead.
Effectively all of the hashtag on Twitter is vocal condemnation from... well, basically everyone. No matter their political stance - mostly conservatives pointing out how bad "the liberals" are for "supporting it" despite no tweets demonstrating actual support.
This sign is disgusting and I'll happily denounce the sexist, bigoted fuck who made it.
Amazed Twitter hasn't banned the hashtag from trending. Unacceptable by any metric.
Sounds like false-flagging to me.
The contradiction is palpable.

might be going a little conspiratard tbh tho
this is some line between stupid and fucking terrifying with how all this has been playing out
Sounds like false-flagging to me.
"false-flagging" is a meaningless term, though. It doesn't matter who made it, or what their political leanings are, or why they decided to make it. They're a dick no matter if they genuinely believed it or if they wanted to incite drama.
One guy made a shitty, hateful sign. It's been latched on to to "prove" that liberals are hateful. It obviously doesn't, though - any more than Trump supporters referencing the Fourteen Words on signs. Are some people hateful? Yes. Does them being a liberal or a conservative mean that liberals or conservatives are all hateful people? No. This is common sense.

Do you really think these are the same people?
There are Hillary supporters and liberals who are definitely not feminists and who are happy to slut-shame and make rape jokes. Stop generalizing your opposition as a strawman. This goes for liberals, too - not all Trump supporters and conservatives are religious bigoted homophobic racist sexists, and portraying them as that is one of the main reasons there is such a huge political divide nowadays.
I'm right here, a liberal, condemning this. I know very few people who would find this acceptable - but I don't doubt that some would. There are bigots and sexists and racists and assholes of every political spectrum. There are violent fascists and then there are violent antifascists. There are communists who live in pacifist nudist co-ops and communists who demand that the bourgeoisie have the heads torn off and splattered into the concrete.
Stop trying to make this a left-right issue. Especially by citing a tweet with literally zero favorites or retweets as evidence that "liberals" as a whole support this kind of disgusting, unacceptable sexism.

To late. Trump probably already did. Ziii-ng!
How in your right fucking mind could anyone support this shit or support Trump's comments on women?
It boggles the fucking mind how many fucking anti-women misogynistic freaks there are out there.
EDIT: also might want to put a nsfw warning in this thread.

as a student living on scraps.
I would totally protest against Trump for $1500/week. Even if I didn't really have anything against him.
Then at end just say "yeah they paid me to protest, actually I like Trump but I need money"
I've always viewed attacking the President's wife as being pretty scummy, unless said first lady is scummy as well. The only one that comes to mind though is Tipper, vice presidents wife but still.

Hell I'd do it even if I was moderately wealthy. That's nothing to scoff at

I believe Trump would be proud of me for taking such an opportunity
There were never any inflammatory signs at the tea party protests!!!!
[sp]if this person has ever talked about rape culture, the irony would be hilarious. It might just be a piece of shit outright though.[/sp]
The contradiction is palpable.
The best part is there is a solid 50/50 chance this was made by someone on the right.

Do you really think these are the same people?
Do you really think the portion of the left that approves of shit like "Rape Melania" is anything larger than microscopic, and represents "the left" at all?
Of course you do who am I talking to.
The hypocrisy is so dense.
Yup, why would someone hire to protest on fucking Craiglist? it's too obvious and public

It's almost like over 60,981,118 voted for hillary clinton and some of those people have different and sometimes radical opinions

No fuck of they're white
the first lady being pretty now is a bad thing?
the first lady being pretty now is a bad thing?
Nah, it's just a couple dipshits shaming her for her past history of modeling

Look! Donald Trump is already making new jobs
That T-shirt was probably created by the fundamentalist right, not the left.
Remember Cruz?
Is that supposed to make you want to vote for Cruz? :v:
Proof that there were shitty people and shitflinging from both sides during the election, nothing more.
Whoever that idiot was should be punished if they can get hold of them, this shit is unacceptable by any reasonable standard.
Is that supposed to make you want to vote for Cruz? :v:
Cruz's campaign was pretty rough on Melania, iirc. And when Trump went after his wife, they got into some arguments over it. But a lot of Cruz supporters were pretty much on the same page.
But anyway, whoever made that sign is probably a terrible individual.
It looks like a plant tbh, surprised no one in the crowd called them out on it considering the people that these crowds are supposed to be made out of.

what % of people who disagreed with trump said that his wife should be raped vs what % of trump said that he grabs women by the vagina

People are blocking off freeways and street ways, they're also brutally attacking anyone who supports Trump.
So I'm not surprised that no one in the crowd knocked their shit down. When in a crowd mentality, people are blatantly ridiculously easy to follow.
