This and Bannerlord will make 2018 a good year for medieval nerds
This and Bannerlord will make 2018 a good year for medieval nerds
Bannerlord is going to make it a good year regardless
this video sold me on the game. i hope it's not just a heavily scripted example and there's more shit like that
Especially with the things to do in town, I can imagine doing them once and then having no incentive to do it ever again.
Something about this game is looking too good to be true
The one thing that worries me, is the sounds, especially voice acting. "There's been a robberyyy", jesus that was horrible. Seems interesting game though, I liked that fast travel system.
Bannerlord is going to make it a good year regardless
Bannerlord, at the very least, won’t be out until 2020.
Looking incredible, just a bit worried about the rather clunky looking UI.
Looking incredible, just a bit worried about the rather clunky looking UI.
clunky UI and the fact they're demoing all of this on a console instead of PC.

Years from now it might even add to the charm.
clunky UI and the fact they're demoing all of this on a console instead of PC.
Most game demos are played on a console, the stick controls the camera very smoothly which is great for a demo.
A cleanliness system is certainly novel.
I love how there's legit a "Drinking" skill :v:
Getting major Oblivion vibes from this. The visuals are absolutely stunning and the combat and different mechanics look good too.
and the fact they're demoing all of this on a console instead of PC.
I'm pretty sure that's the PC version, they're just using a 360/Xbone controller. Considering the video's locked to 30FPS it may be the One X version, though, but even if that's the case I'm not too worried about the PC version being bad considering it was even meant to be a PC exclusive at first IIRC
Really amazing, I kept thinking this was that MMO multiplayer type one, is that Bannerlord?
No. There is a shitty one called Life is Feudal you might be thinking of.
Wait, you save the game by drinking?
The combat looked rather Stiff/Clunky, even if it's mechanically fun.
Some of the jankiness in this video isn't very encouraging Best to keep your expectations in check is all, we've heard lines like "npcs have their own lives", "your actions have consequences" and "play any way you want" many times before and it doesn't usually work out well. Steam page is filled with obvious bullshots, too. I hope it's good though because some of the mechanics look pretty interesting.
Combat is a fucking mess. Technically you can see it is in the vid but having played it I'm hella disappointed.
Combat is a fucking mess. Technically you can see it is in the vid but having played it I'm hella disappointed.
What's the problem?
Combat is a fucking mess. Technically you can see it is in the vid but having played it I'm hella disappointed.
The combat is janky af but there's just no good way to do it while being realistic, they just decided to stick with realistic, and this is the best they, or I suspect anyone, can do.

[editline]27th January 2018[/editline]
What's the problem?
This is from beta so granted, things can have changed and also things can not have been final. But in a nutshell: *general slow feeling, like the timing is precise enough it sometimes feels more like a turn-based system rather than real-time. *You're routinely expected to fight more than one opponent but the system doesn't at all allow for this, as you're locked on to a target in first person. *could kill a dude in plate with my sword which makes 0 sense from a perspective of accuracy and history.
Can't wait for this game, pretty excited it's finally coming to release.
a lot of stuff in it makes me think "neat" but I don't really see anything that would want me to immediately want to play it. combat looks alright but if it's as the posts above say it might still be a problem. hopefully there'll be options to play it undubbed (harder to tell if VA is shitty that way) and the main story offers enough options for all playstyles.

It was done for gameplay reasons because plate armour would be invulnerable to nearly any attack.
They discussed this in one of their vlogs. It was done for gameplay reasons because plate armour would be invulnerable to nearly any attack.
but can plate armor protect you from crippling depression?
but can plate armor protect you from crippling depression?
I'm part of a living history group and regularly fight in plate armour. Yes, it does protect against crippling depression.
Could anyone explain me briefly how this game is actually structured? I've seen quite a bit of it but I'm still not sure what to make of it.
They discussed this in one of their vlogs. It was done for gameplay reasons because plate armour would be invulnerable to nearly any attack.
Then why not add half-swording, or things like picks and maces?
