I am trying to look for new bands in all types of music, so i would like to know if anyone on fp has found any good music sites where you can find new artists?
Music-Map and Last.fm are good sites.
Encyclopaedia Metallum if you're looking for metal.
Pandora was also kinda good back when it didn't suck.
And you'll be surprised what Wikipedia can give you sometimes. I found my favourite band there.
But yeah, as TheGuru said: Music-Map and Last.FM are probably the best sites.
Also for new artists

Can you actually listen on EM though?
I've found blocks of like 20 post-thrash bands with at least one full length (I don't bother with EPs or demos because I don't want to litter my collection with a bunch of folders with 4 tracks in them) that have not a single song on YouTube, and it drives me crazy.

For mp3 downloads
aryt Joe!
i agree i use it often BUT it don't hve most small time unsigned acts on there :(
also he asked for websites where he could find new bands not where he could download music from.
i advise the obvious http://www.nme.com/home website
or http://new.music.yahoo.com/

I find a lot of new music through this website.
You can't obtain music through it, but I find a lot of stuff to check out.
Pitchfork.com is a pretty good review site, I browse the Best New Music section from time to time.
http://rateyourmusic.com/
has good lists if you are looking for bands in specific genre or year or something like that, they also have decent ratings for albums
http://www.allmusic.com/
gives you similar artists that both inspired and were inspired by bands
