Hello, So I recently purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 did a test drive and all that before I had purchased and check the engine error codes and it was only for a rear O2 sensor.
For the past week I believe I'm having gear shifting from the trans once I get up to about 45mph and try and speed up it will not and shake like it's trying to shift.
If I release my foot from the gas and try again it will normally work sometimes I have to try twice or so.
I checked for any error codes and nothing is coming up so I'm a little lost on what it could be I'm just really hoping it's not the trans since that will cost about 3k.
If you have any other suggestions on what to try I'd appreciate that.
Pull the transmission dipstick and make sure the fluid isn't black/ burnt smelling.. it should be cherry red and at the proper level of course.
If there's any doubt, drop the transmission oil pan and inspect the fluid, and also what's in the pan. There should be some (not lots) of grey-ish sludge. If there's LOTS, or if the fluid isn't cherry red, or if there's metal particulate in the oil, then you know there's problems.
If there's no particulate, change the trans filter and re-fill with oil. You can take it in to have a flush done... but if it needs it, it's generally too late and the flush can do more harm than good. Fresh oil and filter is the best bet.
For the rear O2 code.. it just means your catalytic converters aren't taking enough of the hydrocarbons out of the exhaust, or the rear O2 sensor is bad. There's no driveability issues from either. The ONLY thing that'd cause an issue is if the cats were bad and PLUGGED. It may cause stuttering/loss of power like you mention.. so may be worth looking into, as well, checking for plugged cat/s that is.
Alright thanks I will start there and see what happens
