Marine Corps tests new amphibious assault vehicle.
(CNN) - Call it part tank, part boat and part beer cooler. But it's unquestionably all cool.
It's a new U.S. Marine Corps vehicle for getting stuff like troops, tanks and trucks from ships to shore and back.
The Corps showed off a prototype of its Ultra Heavy-lift Amphibious Connector (UHAC) last week during Rim of the Pacific exercises in Hawaii, running it from the Navy's amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore to the beaches of Marine Corps Training Area Bellows on Oahu.
That's one badass paddle boat.
METAL BAWKES
The muhreens, advanced in them, and the army shall steal them
This is what happens when a tank and a paddle wheel steamer have a baby, folks. But it looks unusual certainly.
I remember my first time making tank tracks in gmod too.
But it looks nowhere near as awesome as the AMTRAC.

Keep in mind this is only a half the size of what the real version will be like. The real one will be able to carry 3 Abrams and a Humvee.
Will the drivers have to learn awesome voice lines to say everytime someone commands them?

The 'gator' or known as the AAV is a beast. I remember as a young teenager watching the news and seeing Marines rolling down the streets in Fallujah with them.

Kinda like the german tank team in that one MW3 mission.
Pretty cool design to be honest. The tracks look very vulnerable though.

SIR AT YOUR COMMAND SIR, SIR

Nah, looks like they're designed to still be able to move even if they lose a few teeth to land mines.
Kinda reminds me of this thing

Looks like it'll break if it ever sees combat.

It'll likely be the sort of thing they'd use once a beach head is established, that's what AAVPs, LAVs and infantry are for. I wonder what the capacity will be like compared to the LCAC

Holy shit it's gonna be huge.
A good alternative for when you don't have hovercrafts around.
Judging purely on aesthetics, the operators room budging up like a tractor makes it less cool.
Those flap tracks though hnnngg

I have to say, I kinda prefer the russian hovercrafts in looks.

I agree. But these also can come in numbers, and we all know it's bad add when 50+ amphibious vehicles are doing a landing.
Why not give it legs and a tail and arms and equip it with a hidro cutter? :v:
Is there any suspension at all?
Is there any suspension at all?
Looks like it doesn't need any if its only job is to get Marines and their vehicles to the beach like an LCAC.

Man, its' proposed full-size version is still teensy compared to Russian hovercrafts.

Yes, those are M113s it's barfing out.

Funny you should mention that, Riller, because ask any Marine who's ridden in one of those AAVs (as cool as they are) and they'll tell you that being a passenger fucking sucks. You have a tiny fucking bench to sit on, it's not a smooth ride, and the back compartment constantly smells like fuel and exhaust. Though I am told driving one is super fucking cool.
I have no doubt this paddleboat rape-murder machine would be about as comfortable.
Riding in an AAV sucks asshole, smells like shit, dark as fuck, constantly getting water splashing in making you feel like you're about to sink and drown, and most people vomit. On the other hand LCAC's aren't bad at all to ride on. But apples to oranges.

Apples and oranges. That ship isn't going to accomplish the same stuff that this one will.
The USMC needs a ferry from a proper amphibious assault ship that can be stored aboard the assault ship itself.
The Russian Zubr LCAC's are ships themselves with an extremely short range and, compared to a full sized amphibious assault ship, pitifully equipped.
Useful for defense, but not exactly what I want for an amphibious assault.
I wonder what the tread life on those massive foam things are.

although I doubt it matters too much.
