No, I’m not talking about what you’re getting your mother for Christmas, it’s Hottest 100 time! Triple j have sounded the Horn of Gondor, demanding our assistance in determining what was the best song of 2012.Yessir, now you have to backtrack across the entire year’s purchases and illegal downloads and determine what is worthy to be recognised as the song of the year. Was it this year’s hometown heroes Flume, The Presets, or Tame Impala? Possibly the likes of Muse, Plan B, Japandroids, Cloud Nothings, Kanye’s collaborative work with his pals, or was it the post-rock work of Sigur Ros that took your fancy? Whatever it was, make sure you’re on the money as you only get one vote. You’ve got plenty of time also, with voting staying open until 20th January (midnight). After that the counting begins, and as Santa’s elves once again go on a working holiday after the December season, they’ll make their way Down Under to help Tom & Alex as they work tirelessly to count our thousands of votes. Then on Australia Day the big reveal happens. So get voting on the link here and don’t miss out on the world’s biggest annual music poll!
get voting http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/12/

This is in Australia. I didn't pick up on that at first and was wondering why on earth I didn't know any of these bands.
how?
"hottest 100"
"hottest 100"
I guess for a foreigner, it could be easy to confuse, but over here it's quite a well known event. Too bad I stopped listening to Triple J a few years ago. It's not like it used to be and is going the way of the commercial stations (albeit not anywhere as bad). RTR FM is where it's at, but that's a Perth station.

What actually is Triple J? I have an album on my iTunes which is Triple J's Hottest 100, Vol. 15 and all the songs on it I really like, but I don't know where it's from. Cold War Kids and The Presets are brilliant.
Triple J is a government-funded radio station in Australia which takes its cues from the indie and underground scenes and really helps a lot of Australian artists who are less known get exposure. because it's not run privately, it doesn't need to worry as much about turning a profit which means greater diversity in profit, etc. Sort of the John Peel station of Australia Artists like Gotye, Silverchair, The Presets, PNAU maybe, etc etc, all found their initial success with Triple J, to be honest. Really great radio station though I agree it's fallen in quality a bit lately.
Sounds pretty decent, I wish we had it in the UK.

Triple J is a station in Perth and every year on Australia Day they play the hottest 100 songs of the year voted by the public on their site. Pretty much everyone on that day just goes swimming in someones pool and has the radio tuned in to listen to it. Everyone listens to it.

All the bands i search up have no results, they aren't even obscure :|
The only recent Australian band I remotely like and could think of was Temper Trap.
