This was extremely good. Probably the best thing I've seen/heard from totalbiscuits channel.
I really think this is the best thing to come out of this whole controversy, absolutely great discussion.
LMAO what Midas Magic did. Setting a great example for a mod worth paying for.

also there's a fuckton of people calling this video out on being too pro-paid-mods
i cant believe i sat through half this shit
2 hours of people stating the obvious to one another in a conversation that could have lasted 10 fucking minutes instead

you chose this path
I thought it was worth it so far. It's been fairly neutral. All the other discussions I've read [sp]*cough*facepunch*cough*[/sp] has been severely biased.
I was pleasantly surprised that the SMIM creator didn't have a extreme negative response to this event in contrast to everybody else.

Considering a massive number of people have been arguing against these points for a week I'd say it's far from stating the obvious.
Really good podcast. Would recommend this to anyone who is either highly against or highly for paid mods.
I thought it was alright. However I felt it was naive to think Valve and Bethesda had good intentions in this at all. Valve and Bethsda have a good track record because I believe they know a good way to make money is to not try and make money small amounts of money at every opportunity and looking more at a long term profit. Skyrim modding community has extended the life span of this game by years, and almost 3 years later it still makes more than other single player games of the such. This entire system however showed ignorance on valves part as said
Lastly I dont like how they treated people who where against paid modding. It was Valves failure of PR, the game they chose, how they introduced it, that caused this backlash. How the community acted in anger is not surprising to me. This is simply how most people respond to something they feel destroys something they like. They way it was implemented was literally like the roof caving in on the community. This isnt exclusive to children. Sane humans can in such an angry way aswell to other things they feel are important in there lives.
Video games are a hobby,as is modding. To many people it is there main hobby. That people behaved in such a crude manner should not be a surprise, and to paint them as children is insulting.
Still, the video has some point. I am now more open to the idea of paid modding coming back, although I honestly wouldnt mind if it didnt
Paid modding needs to have some sort of reason to it and not just have people try to cheap others out like what happened nor steal content. Some of the biggest modders on the Workshop (and even a few Nexus modders who took their stuff off of the Nexus to cash in on the Workshop) are already getting blacklisted by the community for some of the shit they did to say the least, and I doubt anyone will let them see any peace if they tried to get back in the swing of things.
