http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16583813
"I am for the Declaration of Independence; he is for the writing of Saul Alinsky. I am for the Constitution; he is for European socialism," Mr Gingrich told voters in Florida last week.
riiiiiiiiight
Mr Obama has never publicly expressed admiration for EU economic policies or been regarded as a particularly Europhile president. But that has not stopped Mr Romney, who learnt French in the mid-1960s when he spent some time at a Mormon missionary in France, from accusing the president of seeking inspiration from the "capitals of Europe". "I don't think there's any hard evidence that Obama is deliberately aping specific policies," says Iain Murray. "However, there is a gut feeling that he is moving away from the 'shining city on a hill', founded on the principles of self-reliance and individual genius, towards a Platonic form, as it were, of European government."
hahahaha Gingrich bashes Romney for speaking French, yet
The former speaker's PhD thesis, from New Orleans' Tulane university, is on Belgian Education Policy in the Congo: 1945-1960
at the bottom of the article? smackdown, there's a chart comparing the US and Europe.
Oh god, the whole article is like the BBC zinging American politics. :v:
Oh god, the whole article is like the BBC zinging American politics. :v:
BBC writes some of the best political analysis. (The Economist is good too, but less funny) [editline]31st January 2012[/editline]
Mr Obama's recent State of the Union address, in which he attacked income inequality and called for the rich to be taxed more, led to claims he was indulging in very un-American "class warfare".
AWWWWWWWWWW SHIT
Isn't it to do with Europe being seen as liberal and soft? It seems in America that being recognised as being liberal or progressive is an insult, which I don't really understand.
Isn't it to do with Europe being seen as liberal and soft? It seems in America that being recognised as being liberal or progressive is an insult, which I don't really understand.
nope, "socialism" and "Europe" themselves are a dirty words.
Those who already view Europe with suspicion, deriding the continent as an economic backwater with a dubious military record, may be particularly receptive to the argument.
umad Europe? (You all realise that above statement is extremely sarcastic)
Isn't it to do with Europe being seen as liberal and soft? It seems in America that being recognised as being liberal or progressive is an insult, which I don't really understand.
Me either :(

i, for one, love being socialist scum
I, for one, want to be socialist scum.
America isn't much of a high prized word either!
Oh America, you make me smile sometimes.
perhaps Romney hates Europe because he had a bad time in France
He says he had to get by on $110 a month and used a bucket for a lavatory and a hose for a shower

Some have questioned just how frugal his living conditions were but he has described it as a formative experience: "I said to myself, wow - I sure am lucky to have been born in the United States of America .... It was a wake-up experience for me."
I bet the average Frenchman doesn't shit in a bucket.
They're only mad at us because we see that they are totaly insane :v:
What about Asia
What about Asia
THEY STEELIN OUR JOBSSSSSSSS BUT WE BUY ALL OUR SHIT FROM THEM SO IT'S K AS LONG AS THEY DON'T POISON US WITH LEAD PAINT
I bet the average Frenchman doesn't shit in a bucket.
To be fair, a few French toilets are holes in the ground, but it's supposedly much better for your body or something, and most people do have regular ones. :v: Also, I think it's a more hygenic design.
To be fair, a few French toilets are holes in the ground, but it's supposedly much better for your body or something, and most people do have regular ones. :v: Also, I think it's a more hygenic design.
those are nice, they don't splash I used them all the time in that shithole that is china.
perhaps Romney hates Europe because he had a bad time in France I bet the average Frenchman doesn't shit in a bucket.
It's not like France has the best healthcare system and lowest poverty rate or anything like that.
To be fair, a few French toilets are holes in the ground, but it's supposedly much better for your body or something, and most people do have regular ones. :v: Also, I think it's a more hygenic design.
Oh god, restrooms at gas stations in Spain. They're holes in the ground where you have to hover over /facepalm.
To be fair, a few French toilets are holes in the ground, but it's supposedly much better for your body or something, and most people do have regular ones. :v: Also, I think it's a more hygenic design.
Squatting, like they do in some areas of Europe, the middle east, and some Asian countries, has been shown by some research to lower the risk of some diseases such as hemorrhoids, etc. It's just seen as uncivilized and weird in most of western culture.

Also, they're significantly more water efficient, and no chance of a cold seat. Doesn't stop me from having a laugh, even though they are better in nearly every way. :v:
perhaps Romney hates Europe because he had a bad time in France I bet the average Frenchman doesn't shit in a bucket.
They probably do, they are French after all. But anyway, does the phrase "god hating socialist Europeans" fit in here today?
Doesn't stop me from having a laugh, even though they are better in nearly every way. :v:
They're hilarious, but that's probably due to our Brave New World-esque social conditioning. (Even though it was a terrible book) But regarding the article, I don't think 'European socialism' is a problem with America, just with hardcore republican voters and the ill-informed. While I admit I'm not fan of American society, they're not all as stupid as we'd like to believe. I think it proves how easy this'll be for Obama to get his second term.
the only problem with those toilets is that you have to aim. and when you miss, bad things happen.
It's not like France has the best healthcare system and lowest poverty rate or anything like that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Poverty_Index http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_system
It's not like France has the best healthcare system and lowest poverty rate or anything like that.
still, it's not like they're shitting in buckets and washing themselves with hoses
But i believe in Social Conservatism. Do that mean i'm a commi nazi?
Yes you should feel bad and exterminate yourself.
But i believe in Social Conservatism. Do that mean i'm a commi nazi?
Of course not, it just means you're wrong.
