this was my favorite series to come out of newgrounds
i guess we grew up now
I love that Arin's animation skills haven't improved at all in like ten years
This is uh, kinda late. Not the release date of the video', that's from last month; but it's defintely...unexpected? And not exactly...very funny? I mean it's not...awful? It's not a continuation of the previous MGA or anything like it, hell, I don't think they even voiced it? It's also got those really old characters. I'm just wondering who's this for.
His voice does sound somewhat different but Arin's credited for voicing it. Judging by the description, it seems like it was story-boarded/animated/edited by other people entirely, so maybe he didn't have much input into it.
He probably worked on this for the last 2 years.

It looks like this because this is how the previous episodes also looked like.
so the "end" of the metal gear awesome series is a minute long animation that doesnt even parody a metal gear game, but instead Madness, is animated by someone else and arin sat at a mic for a few minutes
So basically like every Egoraptor animation put out in the last few years
Oh wow this is just nothing
Even as a minute long video this felt way too long
Remember when Egoraptor wasn't a sellout?

its hard to blame him, he was lucky enough to figure out that animation on youtube was going nowhere and he figured out a back-up that ended up becoming his main source of income. I just wish that now that he has a stable foundation he would at least try to revisit egoraptor and animation
I agree it feels like a shoe-in "For fuck's sake fine here's MGA3." animation. Reused audio, too.
Liquid's not even wearing sunglasses!

He didn’t animate this though

Isn't he working with Ross on Ross' Gameoverse thing that he's been working on for the past year, though?

It's gotta be pretty hard to return to animation when it's such high effort, high stake work where people give you shit everyday your next video isn't out or everytime your video isn't as great.
Afterall, now, all he can do is sit back on a couch with a friend from the Game Grumps and let the chemistry roll while the camera register the game. Even better, I think he gets paid much more doing Game Grumps than he did back while animating.
It's just how the entertainment industry on the internet works now.
Animation is slow to produce, takes a ton of effort, is generally short, and you'd better be doing video game-focused comedy if you want anybody to pay attention to you. Making money on Youtube relies on a steady stream of consistent and frequent content preferably over ten minutes long. Why spend months and months working on an animation when you can get far more money for something you recorded in an afternoon? If his passion isn't there anymore I can't really blame him, unfortunately.
And on that note, are there any notable Youtube animators at all who aren't comedy-focused? Because I'll be surprised if there are.

He likes doing Game Grumps, and he likes animating. He wanted to make a job out of one, and one was working. Of course he went with Game Grumps. He likes it, and plenty of fans like it. There'll always be people saying "pft, whatever, I liked the old stuff better, this is gross."

I liked that end bit :v:

Pretty sure Ross is doing all the animation on that one though.
Worthikids is such a good animator, it's criminal how little views he gets on his channel.

Altho, even if Arin stopped, Ross O'Donovan is actively working on creating a whole show and it's thanks to GG.
So in a way, while Arin won't do anything animation related, he's helping out a close friend realize a dream. He's doing something he enjoys and he probably has one of the most fun jobs to wake up to. Can you really blame him for finding his own path to happiness and/or secure his future?
Animation is a pain to break thru on your own and seeing how YT treated the animators they chose for YT Rewind (they basically never paid them a fucking dime and put them at the end of the video as a final fuck you), there is no hope for animation on YT unless you get hosted by big channels (either as fan submissions like Game Grumps does or the big networks like MASHED or Cartoon Hangover).
